starting up cleaning agency!!!
« on: January 22, 2008, 06:09:51 pm »
hi to everyone!!

i have only just joined as i am trying to find out some information and learn off those who have already set up and have started running their own cleaning agencies!

i am 21 and have recently set up Polished Hampshire! i have around 20 clients and 2 cleaners currently working for me. i am wishing to expand and would love some advise on the best ways to do so.

i cleaned for an agency for a year prior to starting up my own business and cleaned under a self - employed basis! i am really stuck on how the insurance works and the best ways to go about finding the best insurance for the agency.

Polished Hampshire is a domestic cleaning service, with other help around the house avalible. i train all my cleaners as i want to continue keeping all my clients happy. i want the agency to clean to a very high standard.

any help would be muchly appreciated. i have spoken to Business Link and they have been very helpful but i am at a bit of a stand still with the expanding side of things

looking forward to any advice.

Hi Sarah

With regard to Insurance. When we incorporated our company in November our first stop was our "family broker" who you'd think would've tried their darndest to find a competitive quote, to no avail.

We tried Darwin Clayton who specialise in 'cleaning insurance' wasn't impressed with their 'take it or leave' it attitude so I left it! Eventually we settled on:

Allied Insurance Services based in Wigan. tel 0844 815 6211 friendly down to earth advice, not pushy in any way, really helpful. Forgot to add, specialise in Cleaning.

There are lots of factors to take into consideration depending on your current &  future needs. We are, perhaps, slightly different in that we'll have 150 cleaners by March and have £10 million Public Liability & £10 million Employer Liability and have to offer Stakeholder Pensions ::)

I'm sure Allied could tailor you a package for peace of mind...give them a ring, nothing ventured......ask for Mark.

I can't comment on expanding your business, we've been fortunate in that clients & cleaners have 'followed' my co-director so to speak.

Try www.brighterbuisness.co.uk, they were the best quote I could get for public liability & employers liability insurance & they insure any size of business.
