Turning customers away.
« on: January 15, 2008, 05:06:42 pm »
Most of us are building and trying to generate more work,

but are any of you lads so full and busy that you are  not taking customers on.... and actually turning them away?

I do turn away run-of-the-mill work if itr looks like a PITA (e.g. bad access or appointment required).

Yes, but I pass them onto other window cleaners in the area.

Yesterday I got a job based on quotation, the client then showed me another window cleaners quotation......... :o to say I was shocked would be an understatement. I mean this was about €70 per hour........I can only assume that they didnt want to get it.

It did make me think about my pricing though ???

thanks shiner,

the reason i am asking is ;

i hope someone near me says yes they turn work away, then i can ask them to pass them all on to me  ;D ;D

just another way to generate work and , and all be friends at the same time,  ;) :D

you never know if we all did this we would all have the phone ringing non stop.

(wishful thinking eh)

I dont thinkl i will ever stop looking for new ones as there always seems to be a reason to dump some of the current ones.
had one today five years with me fortnightly never missed but today left a note asking me to miss them cos of the rain.
these type of customers i thought were the backbone of my business. just gose to show eh.

I only  take on selected work now, anything not in a area I work in I give to another window cleaner. Most of the Window Cleaners in Fleetwood know each other ( some are related, 4 of them  ) so there is always someone to pass work onto

Yeah, I was hoping for something similar too Gazza! Nobody appears to be in my area though - that's what I get for living this far south!  ;D

A few years ago my sister moved from the deep south up to Co Durham.  When I visited her, she told me about a weather forecast that had referred to "little skytie bits".  At work the next day, they told her it meant snow   :)
