It stopped here too. I started out and only got half a mile and the clutch finally packed up.
Been out looking for a new van. I would have gone to 3 grand, but found a tidy M reg escort 55 for £350, that's £50 more than I paid for the last one. That's inflation for you, mind you the last one lasted 3 years and the dealer paid £100 for it, so can't complain. I can now afford a new saddle and stenson, Dai

It's still dry here, but I've just come home.
A bit earlier than I would have liked, but my next job was half hour's worth, and it's sooooooooooo dark! :o

I'd probably need a torch to finish it, and it would look a bit stupid starting it anyway. ;D

The problem I see with not working in the rain is that you get up each morning looking out the window to see the weather and make a call on work or not. I prefer to expect to work every day and then call it off if it gets too bad.

I generally will clean in the rain unless the customer doesnt want it done.

Yeah, you can't work when it's heavy rain and wind...........Stupid that is ::) ::)

David

I worked all day today in the wind and rain , I loved it because I was earning money when many others were sitting at home moaning about the weather, well I cleaned 22 houses in all with an average of well over £10 a house............... who's the stupid one?  ;D

You two have got to be having a laugh! 22 houses in a day is nothing, I only worked about 5 1/2 hours today to achieve 22, the most I have done is 36 which was an 8 1/2 hour day last Summer, and before you ask they were all perfect finishes, I aim to increase that record to over 40 this year.

There is no secret, I just work hard, methodically and just keep going!

I don't quite understand what you find so funny? I'm not lying, any decent window cleaner should be able to achieve that amount of houses on an estate were most of your customers are next door to each other! Its only an average of just over 4 houses an hour, I have managed 6 small houses in an hour quite easily!

I think the reason is they cant do it or dont, this figure is easily got if you worked 8 hours a day and for some alot less and also had the custom to maintain this amount of work.

If you was employing someone, would you still sit at home watching the rain out of the window or would you be persuaded to get outside and earn a living. Sole trader not working calls it a day off. Employer would think to himself, "I can't afford to stay home and pay my employee for doing nothing", especially during the winter months.

What you need to do is put on your waterproofs and a thick skin, and just go out there and do it, explain to any moaning customers that you cannot stay in business if you have to stop working every time it rains, and I always tell them that the rain should make little difference as I clean the frames too which prevents dirt dripping onto the glass from the top of the frame, and if any of the windows are unsatisfactory they can give me a call and I will come straight back out and clean them again, I have never had a single call!

OK you may lose the odd customer, but most just accept it and are glad to have a good reliable window cleaner.
