Hello Sir-Madam can i leave you one of my window cleaning leaflets,i`m cleaning in the area and was wondering whether anyone else required a window cleaner. The chances are if they like the look of you they will at least ask you to quote and more often than not you get jobs on the spot.

be straight to the point and freindly with it, something like this.

KNOCK KNOCK

Hello there I am from window washers, we clean window in this area and are expanding in this road, do you have a window cleaner at the moment?

if they say yes: ok sry to have troubled you, this is our card incase you ever need our services.

if no: we are giving quotes today would you like a quote for your house~?

either way you will get an answer.

if no give a card.

if yes quote and book.

I tended to think on my feet when I used to do door knocking but hope this helps a little, always smile and look clean and tidy, do not wear a suit.

Hello, nice to find you in,

My name is ........ from GQC Window Cleaning, and we are looking for new customers in this area, and I was wonderimg if you'd like to have your windows cleaned on a regular basis.

If they say yes, ask them if it's okay to have a look at the property, then knock again and give them the price.

Something a long those lines.

AND SMILE, that's the most important thing, even if they say no, or are rude.

And always wear your ID badge with photo, just make one on the PC.

Well shaven, properly dressed, white t-shirt and good jeans will do, don't have to wear a tie.

Hair sorted, no chewing gum, and no hands in your pocket.

Carry a leather folder, with new customer form ready to fill in, on the other side, your cards and leaflets, I've had many people say how professional I look, and really something else. They were very impressed.

That's the way to do it, do all those points, not just one, and it will all come together. Be polite, respect peoples property. No spitting on the ground lol.

You tend to find that your own words sort of develop by themselves. You can try writing a script but after about ten houses you will be doing it you way.
mine is
Oh Hello, I'm Vince Green the local window cleaner. I do quite a lot of houses in this area andI wondered if you would like yours done as well"

But this is my line:

Hello, I'm David Salkeld.  I do a regular window cleaning service in the area.  I wondered if you would be interested?

Replies:

No thanks we've already got one.

OK sorry to bother you

How much?

Can I walk round and give you a quote

Yeah we have, how much do you charge?

Sorry sir/madam, I don't undercut, no point in that

Often leads to; Yeah well he's not very good, thinking of changing

Well have a word and try to sort it, but here's my price and card.

I am a big guy and can be quite intimidating I always and mean always step back from the door as they open it as so not to mess with their space

seems to work as most are willing to chat always end with thanks for your time even if you do not get the custie they will remember you being polite

im quite a small guy but i still like to step back from the door. it might be an elderly lady (usually intimidated by youths) or some big guy who intimidates me

it also it gives them "personal" room, so they feel more comfortable.

i usually like to mention the word "regular"

because i've noticed that people in the area have had problems with W/C's saying every month and turning up every 3-6 months
 (or just the once).

"window cleaner" is also a good word to mention  ;D

never start with an apology. Eg knock knock "hello sorry to bother you, bla bla".
if it is dirty it is fair game
