We're thinking of seeking Safe Contractor Approval, just after some feedback from anyone who is already approved, good or bad.

Cheers

Ian - I think Steve Gunn is a Safe Contractor Approved by South Tyneside Counci!?  Maybe worth while giving him a call.

Cheers Lynn,

I'll give him a call next week.

Are you in your new premises yet?

Happy New Year.

Mrs R starts working for us 3 days a week from next week (Mon - Wed) then full time from 28th Jan.  Her first job is to start chasing up our outstanding debts then trying to get some new work in.

No!  Have been promised the keys on Monday and woe betide the agent if he doesn't deliver this time  :o  If it wasn't such a perfect place for us we would have told him where to go weeks ago.  Fortunately, once he's handed over the keys we won't have to deal with him again.

Good news about Sue....I'm sure it'll make a big difference to your work/life balance!  Coming up to six years since I first started working with John and, I have to admit, it's the best thing I ever did!  :)
Cheers

hi lads,

getting a bit worried about all these accreditations coming up all the time,  first it was constructionline,  then everyone wants you to have cscs cards, and now its the turn of the safe contractor, what ever next,   do they realise that all these cost money, and how do you  get them and can you guarantee more work from it, i have none of these and im doing ok,

please help because im confused ??? :P :-[

I have considered safe contractor in the past, but at the end of the day we are cleaners, not scaffolders.
As for the SCSC, we found that more and more developers were insisting on it for all sub-contractors, so all our staff took (and passed) the test.
It really depends on your activities. For example, if you are working at height and using an MEP, safe contractor accreditation might be the way to go. But if you use nothing more than a domestic vacuum cleaner, SCSC should be all you need to clean on building sites.

We are accreditted to Safe contractor although you may not get work from it helps you stand out from the crowd and shows potential customers you take H&S very seriously.

hi i went in contact with safe contractor,  ive been quoted £160+vat for the first year,   because they quote you on how many staff that you have and not the size of your company,

i recon if it works allright it will stop me sending lots of insurance stuff and H&S policies through the post wasting my time and others looking through it if you just say that you are a safe contractor they can just cntact the register and then they will know if you are H&S concious,  that my thinking any way ???

ive downloaded their application and im sending it soon,  any more advice before i do? ::)

thanx jonny
