would this work mad as it sounds

just saw the ad for the pressure washer on here at the top if anyone missed it.

my question is this, if I attached a pressure washer to RO's infeed would it damage it or would it give it higher pressure meaning lower tds out ????

I know this sounds mad I just wanted to know everyones thoughts on it  ;)

LOL!!! Nice idea, but unfortunately it'd be too much pressure and would blow the RO housing to bits! I think most RO's are rated to 100 -150 PSI.

Nice idea Ian.. but light the blue touch paper and stand well back before you switch it on mate  :)

I think it would blow ur system to bits mate. Or find the weakest part and blow that. Champ 40 inch RO housings are rated to something like 225 PSI max. Your membrane may be able to take that sort of pressure but I have my doubts. Water inflow rate may be a prob as well.

yes i have thought of this idea too when i saw a petrol pressure washer on ebay,

its a good idea to be sure - especially if petrol i think, ignoring the polution side of things, it would really work well if you had a petrol pressure washer at about 100 psi - which would be about optimum for the average 300gpd ro - the fittings on one of them i saw were standard hoselock so just connect to your outside tap and you could produce RO filtered water much faster. It would have to be the right pressure though, i favour this idea over an electric booster pump.

My pressure washer is 4000 PSI,... I never saw one below 1000 psi.

oh - - yes they are all mainly around 2000 psi  i doubt wel find a petrol one at 100psi. the RO will explode.

If you have a powerwasher with an adjustable unloader valve, there is a small chance you could adjust the pressure down that low,.. but a booster pump from RO-man would be cheaper to buy and cheaper to run.

my brother has an electric pressure washer at 110 psi - this could be used as an alternative to a booster pump... I think it was a dewalt one?

Most of the pressure in in these washer washer comes from the nossle, the pump does boost the pressure but it's the nossle that really does the trick.

I'm pretty sure that you mean 110 BAR which equates to approx 1500 PSI
