I have just had a major revamp to my site. It was done professionally. I asked my IT chap who does SEO (search engine optimization) about linking to other sites. He said due to masses of people abusing this by setting up link farms Google had changed to liking one way links only.

To prove it he set up two sites and one had  a few one way links, but the description and text was optimised. The other site was identical but had loads of two way links on. 
guess which one did best?

The one with a few one way links. If someone links to you because your service is good then thats the best link to have. if it was a site like the BBC linking to you (highly unlikely) you would be on top spot in seconds!

I talked to my IT chap today, and I was partially right about my comments in my earlier post and partially wrong. So I am happy to stand corrected and apologize for the wrong bit.

If you had nearing 100 links (no one is sure of the actual number) on your site you will possibly considered a link farm and be dropped by google but a few quality two way links are a good thing.

2: www.holidays-in-dorset.co.uk which needs a helping hand to move up the pages

There is a special code that I will install into the bottom of the links pages which looks better than putting in www.whatever......
