I do about 50-80 miles per week average.

All my work is within 5 miles, but it's not always arranged that well, and I may come home for lunch, or pop back to an area later for one who wasn't in.

I've had weeks where I've probably done 100+ miles, but also ones where I've done 20.

Just thought...I could work it out.

I got my van brand new, so I can tell exactly.
I'll find out tomorrow.

I keep a log book with the idea that if I ever get around to it I'll make some sort of mileage claim when it comes to the tax return.

I do between 200 and 300 a week usually.  Occasionally, on a very easy week, it might drop to 150.  Some personal mileage comes out of that too as my van is my only vehicle.

I did 16,000 miles last year and got back £5500 from the tax man. If I went the route of claiming fuel etc.. would have only been able to claim £3200, so a nice big thank you to Mr. Tax Man ;D ;D

On what basis were you able to claim £5.5k?

I would appreciate if you knew as it may help a lot of other members. Could it be a tax loophole?

£0.40p for first 10k, then £0.25 after.

But you cannot claim any other expenses related to your van/car.

You have two options mileage or running costs.

You cannot swop or change the options only when you have a new car/van.

All info is on the IR site.
