Reading their site it reads to me that the sender pays i would check with your own bank though especially if you have a business account as they like to charge something for any transaction on them

Hi John, Thomas Higgins & Co sent a letter but with no joy of a relpy, so I have told them to take the company to court (which is about 80 pounds) I have found out on friday the company has gone tits up and have moved, so need to speak with Thomas Higgines & Co to see what is the best way forward really  :-\

CHAPS is normally only used for large payments, ie if you're buying a house.

There's normally a £25 admin charge so if it's for windows it must be a big un!!  They are more likely to mean BACS

Yes its for a large amount, its for this job, pics on both pages

It ended up costing them twice my original quote .

only the sender pays the fee

you will get the full amount

it normally clears instantly, thus the fee for the check of the amount

This is there web address ,  www.thomas-higgins.co.uk
give them a ring and you could talk to someone about it .
Also every time you speak to them keep a record of what was said and on what date. If you can get them to put things in emails that will also help.
