« on: December 01, 2007, 12:00:55 pm »
I just bought one on eBay, they still have four left, really happy with that price, they also got the new digital Varistream.

(I'm not advertising here, it just looks like it okay?  ;D )

Mine's performing well at the mo. Reducing my 386ppm tap water to 14ppm before going through the DI Vessel.

I think you don't have a booster pump??
My ro-man 300gpd comes in at around 450-480 and comes out at 7, with a booster pump. I've still got over half a sack of resin from march 2006.

As a matter if interest, how long does it take you Mark to produce 400ltrs of pure water? Mine keeps up with me no prob but I only use about 100-125 ltrs a day and on my tap pressure which is not too bad it produces about 25 ltrs per 1hr & 15min at the current temps. In the warmer temps it produces about 50/50 pure to waste and 25 ltrs in 1 hr.

I was wondering about how much less waste this unit would produce with a booster pump.

ah - i see  - it must work better with a booster pump - with a more consistent tds output...
i do not have a booster pump - im thinking of getting one soon -though...

it would help with water production as overnight or say 24 hours its making about 250 litres... so it takes a good 4 -5 days to fill the 1000ltr ibc- mind you i havent filled it before - wouldnt want it to be too much and my tank falling down- i didnt really support it very well in the shed.   it took 2 days just to fill it up to this level!

It takes between 9 and 10 hours to produce 400 litres. Again, it is much more efficient in the warm.

Thanks Mark,

Mine takes more than twice the time. Do you know the ratio of waste to pure at that rate of production? If it's significantly less I may well put a booster pump into my system.

to be honest i don't. But i thought they ran 1/1 in normal conditions. I will try and remember to do a test tomorrow.
the booster pump cost me £65 and it comes out of ro at 7.
Without the booster pump it comes out at 14. Exactly double.
I have over half a sack of resin left which cost me around £80 i think.
So in the next 6 months or so the booster pump will have paid for itself due to the savings in resin.
I don't have an ibc but use a 210 litre water butt from b&q.
It's handy to have one 'cos i can come home at tea time, empty my water butt and turn the tap and pump off before i go to bed, as i have a full water butt again.
Refill the next morning. Do a 6 hour day and i've got a full load of water again. Though the barrel is overflowing.
I'm not on a water meter thank god!!

Stick a ballcock on the outfeed into the water butt
