Yesterday i set up my van system so that i can feed my microbore directly below the reel through the floor and out the back of my van whilst locked. Today i want to drill a hole through the floor about 2cm or more in diameter. Can you think of something to line the hole with so i don't snag my hose? Looked for grommits in Halfords but no luck.
Maybe a short length of threaded pipe with a nut either side? any ideas?

how about a short section of the sort of flexi hose that takes the waste water from the back of a washing machine? was thinking along those lines myself

That was quick! yes thats the kind of thing but anything in b&q that would pass? I had a quick look yesterday because i wanted a tank cutter to go through metal but couldn't find anything. Couldn't find a cutter either.

Cyberseye, good idea but it needs to be fixed in somehow and have a flange to cover the hole . Maybe a waterbut pipe (could be too small).

Thanks art, but i don't want to spend anymore than i have to for one hole. Umm i have an electrician next door maybe i'll talk to him when he sobers up. I'm thinking more along the lines of plumbers stuff perhaps like a bit of waste pipe with a push fit connecter either side?

Davew, if you look in the plumbing department in B&Q they have a breather pipe with two locking nuts for attaching to tanks etc.  It is the same stuff that's on a ballcoc k for turning the water on and off on the toilet cistern.  You would just fit it then cut it to length.

BTW, I don't know what fittings you use but a Hozelock tap screw fitting, screws onto the threaded breather pipe I was talking about.

why not put a connection on the outside and run the hose from them?
I can see you having to unlock you van quite a few times to sort out the hose. if it kinks on the way back thats going to be a nightmare isnt it?

How about a length of chain and a padlock securing your hosereel to your van (maybe to the towing eye) to prevent some toerag from making off with it.

Sorry about the pictures i can't seem to resize them properly. Anyway i don't see a problem reeling in at all because the door will obviously have to be open to wind the crank I'll still have enough room to guide the hose in with my hand as normal. I can also plug in to my other point and use the reel outside if required. By running through the floor i should hardly ever need to disconnect the reel from the supply hose.

O.K. quick update it works ok apart from the hose wanting to wind up in one position only - in line with the hole

What kind of van is it?

In the Peugeot Expert you can close the rear doors over the same microbore as in pics.

Citroen Despatch, and it works fine. Lock the van up clip on the hose and walk off round the back of the house. The reel spins inside the van and pays out the hose no problem at all. Permanently connected so  less water wasted, nice dry van don't need to catch the drips from disconnecting between every job.

I disconnect from van and not hose, as water goes everywhere otherwise, took me a week to figure that out
