if it has or can get water in it can freeze, water expands hence the cracks

I dont believe it is every container, but the ones we use for window cleaning I would say yes, if you filled tank to the brim and it frooze alot of the time it will crack as the water expands and if the container cannot allow this to happen it will crack, as water is strong, it it is in metal and it freezes the same can happen.

you must be talking about hose pipe yes, if so they will expand, I have never seen a hose crack in my life time

I doubt a pvc hose would crack because the rubber content would expand enough. The hose would still be well and truely blocked though.
As for rigid plastic/metal pipe then yes that could crack because there's not enough flex in this type to take the expansion of water.
Think of a standard milk bottle. If the milk freezes then the expansion of the milk forces the top off.

You are right m8, if you ever need anything answered about system or anything window cleaning just post it, there is normally someone on he that has an answer  websites can also be added to that, sry could not resist pluging my webdesign

Its not the freezing that causes the cracking but the expansion of the ice turning back to water when it thaws that is  the problem. Thats why you have to thaw household pipes very slowly. Most Pumps will withstand freezing solid, but you have to wait for them to thaw.

speaking from expiriance last year when it was freezing my hose froze i was newish to wfp at the time & had no help (didnt no about this site ) so i turned up my regulator and burnt this out in the process . if its too cold my opinion is dont bother othersw minght be diffrent .

oh i thought the freezing itself was the cause of damage

well the critical thing to do is not put frozen stuff
into warm rooms or sunlight

to save something expensive---best way would be to stick it in the freezer
and switch the power off

when it thaws it should be 100% guaranteed uncracked ?

When my pump used to freeze, I poured boiling water over it with no ill effects.  I did this quite a few times during the winter.  Same with the hoses, put them in a bucket and filled it with warm water.
