HELP

I changed vans in feb and sold my old one, i sent off the log book and thought all was done!!

now recieved a letter for a fine for late licience(on van now sold) so sent letter explaining its been sold and when, well got a letter back stating if i dont recieve confermation i should ring up to sort it out and has i dint im liable????

any one else had this problem or new about awaiting for comfermation??

i really feel hard done by paying a fine for a late licience when MY VAN is taxed !!

you you have a reciept for sale ?, i would phone them, dont write (gets lost in post) do you have the persons contact details still?, I would not pay a fine I would sort it out straight away.

i dont (i know very sill) i think i have a signed bill of sale but thats it!!

tried ringing but they wont sort nothing out over the phone i think there very cheeky has they accept that i dont own the vehicle but due to no licience being bought im liable for the fine as i should of contacted them if i didnt recive confirmation of change of owner (new to me)

ok contact them and say you have not had confirmation, more than likely you will speak to someone different, get them to change it, then call back after thats done and talk about the fine, thats what I would try, it is wrong that they fine you for it, they should go out and crush the van and leave it in a cube on the road

I dont think they are right. I had this last year. If you still have a signed bill of sale then surely the new owners details are there?

If not how do they know it is not taxed?

Photocopy the signed bill of sale. Detail dates, etc and put in a letter and state you are unwilling to pay this as you did everything you are legally obliged to. Further state that if they want you to pay for something that does not belong to you then they should pursue you through the courts. Basically take as tough a stance with them as they are with you.

Send the whole lot by recorded delivery. They will back off eventually.

i think its all changed as i never have recieved conmfirmation b4.

it states at the bottom of the letter these are in the regs 21 24 registeration and licensing regs 2002 as ammended!

it wouldnt supprise meif they have been fined as well(the new owner) its bull crap!
