How many advertise, free or otherwise in the Yellow Pages, and what sort of response do you put down to being in there.I have a free line going in in January, and naturally they are hassling me to buy a 3 line box, which will cost nearly £200 per year.

Worth it  I spent £300 with yellow pages and ended up with £250,000 worth of business.

why have find us in yellow pages? that sounds like madness to me, you are paying them for you advertising them, and when people (should I say if people do pick up a yellow pages) you have all the other window cleaners there aswell.

Why not have a website and say find us online www.yourname.co........... that why they only see you. the reason being is by the time they get back from where ever they are they more than likely will have forgotten your company name so they pick up a yp and see the person that spends the most on a yp advert and call them, so what you have done is advertise for another window cleaner. now that seems a very bad idea IMO

well i spent £1200 odd on it last year/this Yes you read correct, i got about half back, but then before i have spent £2-300 and got double out of it, the truth of it is you will not truly know until you do it, may work may not, if you get £20 from it then it will at least pay for itself in 12 months, i picked up a £10 from £2-300 add and that has turned into 4 figures of work with extra jobs, Web sites do work but you have to put them out there, so people know they are there to go to, one of my websites comes up on the first page of google, and it is no major production from  it, and everyone says it is a top site!!

   can you afford it? do you need the work? are you prepared to lose it? will you take the hassle of idiots calling up?

I spoke to a fellow WC the other day and he said it worked wonders for him,he cancelled this year cos he now has to much work and the majority of it has come from yellow pages.

I see your point windowwashers, but my thinking is, yes they'll be other window cleaners in the YP, but it's me they're looking for.

my cousin advertised her business in yellow pages(nowt to do with windows)
has got no work and no end of companys ringing to see if she will donate to charities


she even had to repeatedly tell somone she couldnt give money to kids cause she had no work

iv just done a web link with yell .com only had it a week but had bout 5 calls already.
but im really trying to aim it more at commercial work, my opion is it can be good one year bad the next but if your persistant i think it will more than pay for its self!!

You can only use the Reach & Wash logo if you have a Ionics system.

including the vat, it will cost me £1056, for a 1/4 column in 2 books as i border on 2 areas.

I have built my whole business on leaflets, and have an excellent round. For the same money i can have 30,000 leaflets printed & put out, and with a response of 0.75% (the average that i get) and with my minimum charge, there is no way i could guarantee the same return with yellow pages!!!
  Also, i choose the areas! With that return on the business i already have, it would mean getting an employee too!
  I know ppl say they want commercial out of yellow pages, but as the same as everyone else, im in this for the money and with residential, better cash flow, more money, and i think more enjoyable!!!

Im not ruling out yellow pages, i think you've got to cover yourself from every way in advertising, but if my budget dictates that i can only spend £1056 for the year, i know which way i would go!!!

Also, my leaflets are double sided, windows 1 side, conservatories other.....it really is a no brainer

 I use yell.com for another business i have, which works, but i do cover a larger area for it, as for the w/cleaning, in my eyes and experience, its the only way for me
