DONT clean ur poles this way
« on: October 21, 2007, 11:00:22 am »
I,m a bit of a stickler for cleaning my poles coz I find this makes them last a LOT longer.

So I stripped my H-Extel right down a bit earlier this morning. Took clamps off and placed them ever so neatly in a box ready to put the pole back together. The Mrs had to pop to the shops and as she reversed out I heard "CRUNCH"... YUP she ran over me box with all the clamps  ::)  :o ARGG!!

Bless her she was mortified  lol. Oh well lesson learned  lol  Good job I can get replacement clamps.  Ahh the joys of WFP  ;D

Errr on the ground right behind the wife's car  :-[

Ian..  Never use anything to try and make ur poles slide easier. All that does is make dirt stick to them.  Ur poles are new aren't they? I think they are extel from what I see on ur system pices. All you need to do is adjust each clamp using a screwdriver until they run freely but still give a decent grip. I love the clamps on the extel poles a small adjustment and they are set up perfectly. :)  BTW DO NOT overtighten them.. all you need is a very slight pressure on the sections to get a good firm grip from the clamps.  Best thing to clean them?  WATER...  :)

If you have glass fibre clean the clamps out with water and then polish the pole with a silicon based car polish
If carbon fibre again the clamps clean out with water then use baby oil on the sections
The sections will then glide like they are new
