Got a lad starting with us nxt week so was going to get him public liability cover for 500,00.00, the lad is going to be working partime ie 15hrs per week so do i need to get employers liability cover as well or get him to pass onto me a risk assessment etc the lad is an experienced cleaner just trying to get my back covered

cover liability 2mil min and get employers as well

i,ll get him 2 mill on public liability as under 100 quid which is no problem ...but do  you lads get employers liability as well?

i think so if you provide him with 2/3 of his work or more. I did look into EL over a year ago and was quoted £1184 (or something similar).
The cover was strange 'cos it covered me for as many employees as i wanted as long as the wage bill didn't come to more than 10k a year.

yes, as it covers you and complies with law, i think the only reason you do not have to have emplyers liablity insurance is if the person you employ is a close relative. Best thing to do to be 100& sure is call the inland revenue and ask them at least then you will be the facts
