PORTFOLIO ADVICE PLEASE.
« on: October 19, 2007, 06:28:57 pm »
Hi,

can anyone assist me in creating a portfolio or simply a professional letter template ?

I simply want to be able to send an odd letter out now and again or some decent information regarding what i do.

Is there any software available to do this or can you make your own.

Any advice would be great thanks,

my email address is on my profile as an alternative.

Thanks.

Gary.

Is it for investors/backers, the bank manager?

Is it for your domestic customers?

Is it an attempt to gain commercial customers?

The question is to wide.

i dont think it is, .. i have leaflets for domestic customers,

Its a profile design im after as explained above, i would hardly need that for my bank manager l ::)

and as i have only  been  up and running just over a year,  i dont really think im looking for investors, and if i was i wouldnt be asking for a company profile, i would have a company. and it would be the finished article and far and away beyond a simple letter....

it seems this topic is a no go... thanks anyway...

a letter to send out to, nursing homes, pubs,... a profile letter...

thats all.

GAZZA, if you put the topic in plain english some more people many relpy with an answer you are looking for.
no long words or over complicated words either.

I am lost what you need, I am thinking you need a letter to send out to get more commercial work if so, start a topic saying this: commercial work letter help!!!!!!!

One little tip I will give if contacting anyone, put in to much and in words that most people will get puzzled with you will be wasting your time, you are a window cleaner base it on that  ;) if people wanted window cleaners in suits we would all tell them to take a hike.

p.s I am not having a pop at you in anyway m8, just trying to help  ;)

A portfolio to me is a  abooklet say with pics of b4 and after cons roof gutters carpets driveways ect ect
prob with a bit about your company health and saftey your services ect ect

But a letter for commercial work is purely a letter slightly different!!

If its a letter go to the documents there is one on there off sarah sill i think!!

thats a good idea, do a letter post it here then we can all say what we think and add to it if needbe.
A portfolio as ronnie said is pics and details to do one that will look good would cost a small fortune a letter on the other hand can word just as well ;) :P :o :( :) ;D

Remember all us Brits don't like being told by someone that they are great. So Instead of telling everyone you are great like " The Best!" "Most professional!" I use things that make other people think " Yeah he is great".

Uniformed, fully insured, reliable are the words needed. I seen a great contradiction one day in a shop window. I had my leaflet all professionally printed and next to it was this hand written photo copied letter saying " Wirrals No.1" I thought to myself so if he's Number 1 then why do I get all the work and he has to sneak into my shops when I've finished and try and pinch them. 12 months I've had them all have been canvased, none have been lost because I go every week! ;D

I use a portfolio the items contain it it are as follows.

Letter of introduction about your business and service you offer.

Sample risk assements and method statements and health and safety policy.

Copys of any certification you hold FED or APC etc.

Some refferences from satisfied comercial accounts singing your praise.

Buy a folder to bind them together, I also have a picture on the front cover of us in uniform doing a comercial account.

Hope this helps Roy

No cost at all just type it out in a word processor and the cost of paper ink and folder to bind it.
