BIDDING WAR!!
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:44:37 pm »
Just had a phone call from a lad i used to clean windows with and he tells me hes selling 2/3rds of his work which is 2 grand a month and asked if i was interested.... Hell yeh!!
The only downer is there are 3 other people who are interested. He wants an offer from everyone interested and then start a bidding war, highest bidder wins.... its gonna get ugly!

Out of interest what would you guys offer to start with and what figure would you not go past. Ive worked on this work before and its good work. Ill have to change them over to wfp but shouldnt be a problem.
I was thinking of offering 5 grand to start and hope everyone else cant afford this and my max being 8 possibly 10 absolute max. I really want the work and i dont mind paying over the odds cos the investment will pay for itself ten fold.
Has anybody else been in a similar situation?

Is it really worh that?

I personally would start lower than 5k if i was think of buying.

Just go round there and wave £4000 under his nose, show him what it looks like in the flesh, If he says no another £2000 should sway him, but like you say if you really want it and it fits in with yours, just pay what it takes.

Tell him to let you know what the highest offers he has had, watch out for the bull, not everyone has the balls to pay that kind of money for a round, so the odds could be in your favour.

£24k a year is a lot of EXTRA dosh to add to your turnover every year.

Just make sure you win it , good luck.

That little trolley is going to explode what are you going to use - a fire engine?

Good advice Dave.
The rest of you what's the problem jealous? The guys got some swagger, and maybe not everything he says is the literal truth, but there are so many losers on here and I get sick of them, give me a winner any day. JD couldn't give a toss what we think, and that's how it should be.
Ps. I did think the comment about the fire engine was funny.

Out of curiosity if you did buy the work and win it - how would you treat this extra workload?

Probably not too much in the way of logistics to worry about there, its only a couple of wet afternoons work after all  ;)

I dont agree with 5x being a hell of alot for good work, if I was selling I would never sell for 2x ever, I would rather lose it as I know full well you can get a new marketed round for no less than that, so good work that pays well from a person you know is worth a hell of a lot more IMO

great advice.
The lure of that amount of cash in his hand immediately, would i bet be too great to turn down.
Spent 6 years in asia haggling for everything and flashing the cash was by far the most successful way to barter.
Let us know how you get on.

Hope the seller, or any of his mates don't come on this forum otherwise he might hold out for the 10 grand.

It won't go for 4000, flash 6 to start with then 1000 to sway.
