LDV convey vans? Should i?
«

Has any1 got or know of another window cleaner who uses 1 of these vans? I need another van on the road and i know these vans are big and ugly to look at which is putting me off. But in theory theyre ideal for window cleaning, big payload, 3 seats, plenty of room for sign writting and cheap compared to the better looking vans!
Any1 ever drove a convoy? Would like to hear an opinion guys.

the engines are big and thirsty, the best being the 3.2 litre. The bodies aren't too bad, its just the paint is thinner than most others. They also rattle like a goo'un from new, so I dont know what an old second hand one would sound like. They are what they are, cheap and cheeful.

Seen 1 which is a 2.2 dual fuel. He recons if both tanks (lpg & diesel) are full it would do 700 miles! Would swiching to lpg lose any power? Dont want anything that cant move water!

lpg is ok. I got a vauxhall combo dualfuel. It aint gonna win no races, but the van runs ok. Its like driving a 1300 van on gas, and a 1600 on petrol. Cheap to fill up, 40 litres for just under £18.00. Is the van one of the new ones or is it one of the old postie vans

Its x reg but only done 29k direct from council. The main things puttin me off are
1) its not only ugly but its bright orange, neighbours would love that parked on street!
2) if i use lpg will it have enough power to pull 650ltrs of water.
But then i think its ideal with its payload and room. Just dont know might ask for test drive, never had a van so big!

will be able to pull any weight within reason, but instead of 0 - 60 in say 15 seconds, it will take 20 or 23 seconds. Also you have to remember to keep looking at the petrol to make sure you dont run out while on gas

Ive got a LDV Pilot, not quite as ugly as the Convey and not very fast but they are cheap. If you pick a clean one up and have it sign written. Ive had no problems with mine, I have had it three months and picked quite a bit of work up in that time.
I'd put some pictures on but i have had some problems uploading the picture, i'll see if i can get it sorted.
Brett.

at the end of the day buy the best you can for the money you have. A seven year old ldv might be better than a fifteen year old transit!!!!!.

weve had 2 "v reg and 1 02 reg" they are cheaper than transits but they are also big and capable. all our vans had between 750 & 1000 water litres in each, all other comments so far are right about looks, speed etc but it will do the job and we never had any major problems with them
