Am thinking of putting my 1000litr tank outside in a wooden sort of box am going to make for it like its own little cubord with the RO inside, its the only space i have in the side drive behind my big wooden gates.

Iv heard people have used green water buts outside just with winter doesnt the water freeze or the hose pipes??

my water butt is outside, though i store my RO in the garage ( soon to be stored in the shed )

in 3 years the water has never frozen in the 210 L water butt

i run a 6mm pipe from the RO to the drum, right around my house, that has yet to freeze

i run the waste from my garage to the drain and the end of the pipe is in the water of the drain ( where my sink drains to ) and that hasnt frozen yet

Do you think my RO will be ok outside? well in a wooden sorta box made up for it so its will be shelted with a lid on top or something so not outside bit will be cold i spose.

last year i know that RO-MAN said that they had a few customers say that the RO has expolded with the water freezing inside

you could build your box / shed and have a small heater out in it, something like a oil filled heater ( i got mine from focus DIY for 20 quid, or about that type of money )

yer might have to.  there was a little solour powerd heater i seen somewere for green houses mite look into that.

Might look into that myself my garage is exposed also. So if I put a heater in there the heat would just escape.

when you build your box for it, why not add some insulation into the walls. nothing major, but that will trap the heat from the heater, if for some reason that broke down... but remember too. a heater, small wooden box, house = big flames . . .

Yeah. I was thinking of something without a flame, maybe run off a battery I could charge during the day.

i remember it well

febuary, clucth on van went, alternator and battery, then it snowed and i live in the middle of now where so was stuck in.

so then everything all fixed and snow cleared, goes out to RO

all three pre filter housings had smashed...i was gutted. again no work

replaced them, and realised it had smashed both membrane housings...please for you sake insulate it. i learnt my lesson

i couldnt work for around 6 weeks...not good on the bank account mate

We used to use a 60 or 100watt light bulb which gives enough warmth to suffice.

Mine use to be outside in a Wooden box, i put in side 2" polistyrene (not spelt right) sheets in the  box, always protected from frost with no problems at all, they are cheap from B&Q

is that the RO pipe? i mean you have just put the ro tubing around your house? would that not slow down the production with less pressure?

it might have slightly, though i saw no difference in my production, so i was happy

just my tank will be about 6 meters away from my outside tap didnt really want 2 use a normal hose pipe there and then back to the grid
