What pole for this job?
« on: September 24, 2007, 04:46:24 pm »
Hi all :) As some of you may know.... I've been after getting a new pole. I know I'm gonna need a 24 footer for most of my work, but I've been asked to price up a job that has some very high 3rd storey windows.

The job will be worth a good amount, so I've been hanging fire to see how much height I'll need. I'm not sure whether to splash out the extra 30 quid or so on a 28 footer..... here are some pictures.  The window in question is the triangular one in the apex of the roof, and the pole up against the wall is my current 18 footer, just to give an idea of scale. What do you think?

Thanks guys  :)

for that i would buy a superlite!

all them angles and stuff you don't want to lug weight around

that's my two pence anyways

Carbon fiber 24ft facelift would reach those easy.

I reckon you'll get away with 24ft. The extra is alot of weight to lug around just cos of one job.

Might I recommend a 24ft hybrid..... :)

My best pole ever. Ups, downs, rigid, light. short sections, fits in small van.

Yeh its a nice place aint it? Its a collection of 4 properties in one barn conversion. The superlight would be nice, but is too expensive for me, and too expensive to justify for just the one job. And I heard theyr pretty fragile, and I'm very clumsy!  :-\

Yeh the 24 foot Hybrid is the one I've been considering. Looks like a really nice pole :) Wanted to wait until this job came round so I could see how high it actually was though. Bearing in mind thats only an extra 6 foot on top of what I've got.... would it really reach the top of those windows??

Does anyone know if you can take sections off the Hybrid?

You will need a 28ft pole minimum to reach that window.

You can remove sections from the hybrid if you need to.

Super-Lite fragile? Take a look at our recent video  :D

I do jobs like that day in day out at that height,a 24ft will reach them.Twist the brush slightly to the side to do the top angled ones.

LOL.... NOW I'm confused  :P ;D ;D

I must say, it doesn't look like a 24 footer would reach 'em.

The top of that apex window looks about 26' from the ground (count the bricks, 4 to a foot), with a light weight pole of 24', you should just be able to reach.....unless your a right short ass!!!  ;D

The pole would be diagonal though, so wouldn't you lose some height? Pythagoras and stuff? LOL.... I AM a short arse :P

Yeah add another section on to that 18ft pole in the pic and you'd just reach the bottom of the top glass due to the fact you'd have to stand futher away, no way would you then reach the very top(unless you were 10ft tall
Alex got this about right.....28ft needed.

Couldn't you get the van closer and stand on the roof ;D

i have a few high stuff jobs

i brought a Unger 3 X 3M ( so i can reach over 10 M )  pole, its a touch on the heavy side, but for the amount of work it gets,  it made the pole a VERY good buy, i think it cost me 80 quid

Not bad! Is that about 35 foot? Whats it made of?

Would need to put that on the roof! My vans not long enough :P
