use a pen and paper and a tape measure , Measure your shadow then measure the buildings shadow, then divide your shadow by the buildings shadow.So if you are six foot tall and have a 3 foot shadow and the building has a 12 foot shadow, this means the building is 4 times bigger than you.so multiply your height by 4 to give the building height which is 6 foot times 4 = 24 feet high.
Or it might be easier to get hold of a stopwatch - climb onto the roof, jump off-timing how many seconds before you hit the ground - pick yourself up then time yourself jumping off a 1ft wall - get the calculator out and do the maths.This method works fine even on cloudy days when there are no shadows to measure !
