All of the work done this week was booked early-mid September, but the Christmas stampede is well under way, with January filling fast

We are booked solid until the end of November.
It is getting busier the nearer we get to Christmas.

How dare you mention the C word. Wash your mouths out with soap :'(

I'm not as unfortunate as John, I'm only booked up till the end of November. Too long a lead time for me, two weeks is comfortable.

Safe and happy scheduling :)

Ken,

Sorry about 'that' word  :(

You are right about the lead-time. I have missed out on so many events due to being pre-booked, and when an old customer has an urgent problem it means tacking the job on top of other bookings, leading to some very long days. Two weeks would be so much more comfortable.

...But Christmas is only 9 weeks away (exactly)!
Customers are starting to get organised for the visit from Auntie Madge!

Having been in the position of scrathing around for work when we started out, being booked up 5 weeks in front is VERY good and we'd feel uncomfortable if it wasn't like this at this time of year.

There are the long days because of jobs fitted in but it's all part of the season.

Just out of interest, do any of you guys give away a seasonal gift to your December customers?

Been booked up this week and last but tendon damage in elbow have meant putting heavy jobs off till next week. Result is that i am booked solid for 2 weeks including a midnight job :-\
Have a number of US clients and they get me in before family descend on them for    :-X dec25, most of them have me back mid january to clear up the mess they left :o.......worth the drive to Hampstead/St Johns Wood  ;D
Anyone who does not get busier between now and   :-X dec25 must be EX DIRECTORY

Hi,

Received a call on my mobile this morning from a friend, he informed me that he had tried my business line several times only to receive a pre recorded 'Line fault' message from BT.

BT have diverted the business line to my home number until they can come out on Wednesday and repair the faulty line.
The result.... 12 bookings taken from my home line from 9.15 this morning and the phone is still ringing, most are very angry repeat customers who have been trying to call me from 2 weeks ago.

Such a shame, I was rather enjoying my daily dose of Trisha, Doctors, Bargain Hunt and Farther Downing :D.

Peter,

This happened to me a few years ago - since this is a business line you are entitled to compensation for each day over the first 24hrs....... but you have to push for it.

As far as I recall I received about £30/day

Thanks John,

After waiting 10mins to get through this morning to report the fault, I asked if I was eligible for compensation, the operator told me to hold the line while she went to ask someone then must of decided she couldn't be arsed and put the phone down on me. >:(

Called back, and waited another 7mins to get through only for the same thing to happen again.

Hi Guys,

I've had my second busiest week ever (last week was the busiest) which is obviously good ,  but means I have missed out on about 6 jobs this week becuse of my extended lead time.

Ideally I like to be about 9 days ahead with a few gaps for emergencies.
Then I can hit YP calls.

Cheers,

Doug

carpet cleaning is an extremely small part of our business, but our core businesses build cleans and special one offs is crazy,

working next weekend, and the weekend after, and another vehicle on the road in a fortnight.

so yes busy, busy, busy.  so im enjoying a day off.

regards

martin

Hi,

I usually give each ustomer in December a box of Milk Tray, promo calendar, diary and a pen. Tacky and cheesy i know but it works!! i am booked solid upto 5th Dec so far, and that is with two vans on the road.

I try and only do the above to jobs over £65.00

Cheers

Scott

Christmas cards and a promo calender (with your phone no on of course) are an absolute winner. Cheapest advertising you will ever get in terms of bookings per pound spent.

Does anyone else do this?

We do Christmas cards and a box of chocolates or similar.
have not done the calendar idea. Where do you get them done?
