Hi all

I'm trying to decide between a 24 foot Xtel GF pole and the same length hybrid pole.... just had a look at the rigidity chart on Alex's site, and the GF pole scores lowest.

One of the reasons I'm after a longer pole is to do work above sloped rooves that I'm still having to get the ladders off the van for. Will the 12% difference in rigidity between the GF and Hybrid poles make that much difference...... ie, enough difference to justify paying an extra £100 for the Hybrid pole? How much does the GF pole flex in use?

Any advice is really appreciated, thanks guys

yes it is justified,

i know because i use a reload and f-16 the fishing poles

at 18ft the reload is too bendy but the f-16 is nice and stiff means when your pushing against the glass it doesn't bend out on you, plus i think you'll notice the difference over time

The GF X-Tel does flex quite a lot more than the 24ft Hybrid but it is still a very light pole to use.

If you are intending this to be your only or main pole then it might be worth saving up for the Hybrid. If you want it for working over roofs then I would recommend that you go for the Hybrid.

If you are intending to only use it on your occasional higher work then you will probably be able to put up with the flex. My personal recommendation would be to use it with a lightweight brush head to limit the flex effect. I personally use a GF X-Tel 21ft for a lot of my domestic work and find that I can quite easily live with the flex.

It would probably be my main pole.  I have an 18 foot ecoline pole Pure Freedom supplied me that I'll probably cut down and use for more cramped work, but apart from that I'd be using it full time. A lot of houses on one of my estates have windows set back over garages with sloped rooves, and I need something that will stay as horizontal as possible.

What are the Superlight brushes like to use? They seem very light, do they give enough weight pressure to scrub the windows properly?

Alex, how much do you charge for delivery?

I love the x-tel poles and have a gf 17ft a 24ft Hybrid and 36ft Hybrid and a 56ft carbon X-tel.

I find the 17ft gf (my main pole for domestic) a fantastic pole for everyday work, is cheap and easily replaced. Ist excellent and flexes beautifully allowing you to clean windows above conservatories from the side. The 24ft I use for commercial windows that are bigger and a little higher. I use a bigger brush on these windows and I found a 24ft gf too flexible for this application and the 36ft too heavy to use all day. So the 24 Hybrid is perfect for this job. If just doing domestic a 17ft gf and a 36ft Hybrid will do you lovely for almost every job.

The Super-Lite brushes are very nice to use.  I have them on every pole I use (7!). Because they have soft bristles they scrub the windows very well.

Pole delivery is £14.95.

I use a 18ft GF x-tel and it perfect for me for most of my jobs, tried out a mates 24 GF x-tel and it's useless due to the excessive bend in it in use, he ended up cutting it down to make it useable. I think gazzasp8 uses the 21ft so it seems thats about the limit with these GF poles, better off with a hybrid 24ft I think

I use the 34' hybrid pole every day and  for the work you mention, its well  worth the extra few quid, save up and go for it, you wont regret it.

Just a quick question about length.... does anyone have any pictures of the 24 foot pole up against a building? Will the 28 foot be a better idea + remove a section for normal work? I'm intrigued to know if itll be long enough for a job I plan to quote. Its third storey work, but one end of the house has windows that go right up into the apex of the roof. Hard to describe really!
