Matthew,

I know that was aimed at me mate, Im not gonna bite just state a couple of things.

Firstly im not sold an 'idea' as you put it, I see it exactly how it is mate. I use many suppliers and try loads of different stuff from different company's, Ionics are not the only suppliers I buy from! But yes I own two Pro-5's because I personally believe them to stand out and be the best for certain reasons stated below. However your right and Im the first to admit they are basically the same as any other system, pure water on the end of a pole.

There's loads of things that appeal to me about them one is the brand and being legally allowed to use it, another is that the systems have never broke down with constant daily use in two years never so much as even made a strange noise!
I think that the ultimate reason is Its crashed tested which for me is a very very good point. Do you know how nice it feels driving along knowing the tank is fully secure and capable of taking kinetic energy of up to 640 tonnes its held by proper purpose made clamps and bolts with the Tatcham test number on, not 5 tonne straps or even worse that old trick you do and seatbelt tanks in the back of cars.

I switched to wfp to have a safer working life, I fell from a 20ft+ Ladder when I was 18, broke both wrists and nearly my back. I knew wfp was the way forward but didnt want to be crushed to death by some dodgy tank in the back of my van.

Hope it hasn't sounded like im having a dig matt just catching 'words' coming my way and throwing back a few facts  ;)

I had a good belly laugh reading moving from Trad w/c to wfp via Leasing equipment and van. If only it was as simple as Ioincs paint it to be.

that was funny, not the moving to WFP, just the time scale  ::) ::)

this post is funny, you have the people who can see whats what and you have the 'fan-boys' who really are sold the idea of ionics and will not see anything else
I guess you not a fan boy of ionics then Matt  :o

Propole,

Nobody can argue with your reasons for buying from Ioincs. Well thought out and very sound. Your right you cant put a price on your safety or peace of mind driving around with about a ton of weight fixed in one place depending on the size of tank.

I bought from facelift, 800 ltr tank which is fitted very securley with special clamps around the chassis rails underneath the van. I have 100% confidence in my system and the safety aspect. But I hope I am never involved in a collision, any speed over 50mph as I will be on a wing and a prayer. But I saved a lot of money in not buying it from Ioincs.

Fair play to Ionics they have crash tested their tank. But have they crash tested from multiple angles. Rear collision, Diffrent weights of tanks, Diffrent water levels,Diffrent vehicles carrying the tanks. Diffrent fittings, Ie if you have a stainless steel bolt fitted to the floor, it is not as strong as a high tenstile steel bolt. Thats why the enginer who made and fitted my tank would not use a stainless steel bolt as the stainless steel bolt would snap under pressure before the bolts he put on. Not haveing a go,  they have crash tested, but their is more involved then that.

I wonder if they have had it crash tested more as a sales ploy then for safety reasons, IE they could sell more systems haveing the certificate and differentiating themselves from other suppliers. Its jut the opinion I formed when I had a Demonstration of their system at my house when I was looking into wfp. When I spoke to the ionics  salesman about haveing a bulkhead in the van for safety reasons his reply was pointless, all you need is our crash tested cage.

I would recommend anyone haveing over a 650 ltr tank to go for one off a good company as its an hell of alot of weight to carry in one place.

I will have all the fixings checked next year as the van will be three years old and I think I will replace the fixing bolts as a precaution.

I had a special stainless steel frame made for my sons system(400) ltr lay flat tank which was designed by enginers and fitted by them. For the whole system it cost less then a grand. I have a lot of faith in that system in the event of an accident.

In the end if your happy with ionics thats fine, But I do think they charge more then what their products are worth.

Nel,

A man talking sense ;) I dont think many of the top names are that much different from eachother. I dont even think I paid that much for my list price system, I cant see anywere much cheaper than the 3700 I paid for a Pro-5 650.

I remember seeing you sons system and was very impressed with how secure and pro it looked.

People should take note about this subject, Why risk saftey because of saving a few quid or at least anyone carrying weight should do so safley and in accordance with, The Code of Practise "Saftey of Loads on Vehicles". BS: 12195 Load Restraint Regulations.

ProPole

not really aimed at you, just people like you :), but you do fit the bill well, you can see nothing wrong in anything ionics do, even the staged mag they send out and that feature about the guy who starts with his ionics system

even worse that old trick you do and seatbelt tanks in the back of cars.

lets put this to bed AGAIN, i have NEVER seat belted a tank in, i helped a guy setup a system, told him the bits to buy, HE MADE the decision to seat-belt them in, i have since corrected him and he has had bars welded under the boot and its straped in, that was still his choice

Ive helped fit a 200 L to a estate car, when you think of it, its only the same as a BIG FAT bloke sat in the rear seat

we seatbelted it in the rear seat, worked very well if im honest, and when / if i decide to go 100% WFP i will be doing the same

upon advice from alex, i then told the guy he should change it

no contridition about that
