Propole,
Nobody can argue with your reasons for buying from Ioincs. Well thought out and very sound. Your right you cant put a price on your safety or peace of mind driving around with about a ton of weight fixed in one place depending on the size of tank.
I bought from facelift, 800 ltr tank which is fitted very securley with special clamps around the chassis rails underneath the van. I have 100% confidence in my system and the safety aspect. But I hope I am never involved in a collision, any speed over 50mph as I will be on a wing and a prayer. But I saved a lot of money in not buying it from Ioincs.
Fair play to Ionics they have crash tested their tank. But have they crash tested from multiple angles. Rear collision, Diffrent weights of tanks, Diffrent water levels,Diffrent vehicles carrying the tanks. Diffrent fittings, Ie if you have a stainless steel bolt fitted to the floor, it is not as strong as a high tenstile steel bolt. Thats why the enginer who made and fitted my tank would not use a stainless steel bolt as the stainless steel bolt would snap under pressure before the bolts he put on. Not haveing a go, they have crash tested, but their is more involved then that.
I wonder if they have had it crash tested more as a sales ploy then for safety reasons, IE they could sell more systems haveing the certificate and differentiating themselves from other suppliers. Its jut the opinion I formed when I had a Demonstration of their system at my house when I was looking into wfp. When I spoke to the ionics salesman about haveing a bulkhead in the van for safety reasons his reply was pointless, all you need is our crash tested cage.
I would recommend anyone haveing over a 650 ltr tank to go for one off a good company as its an hell of alot of weight to carry in one place.
I will have all the fixings checked next year as the van will be three years old and I think I will replace the fixing bolts as a precaution.
I had a special stainless steel frame made for my sons system(400) ltr lay flat tank which was designed by enginers and fitted by them. For the whole system it cost less then a grand. I have a lot of faith in that system in the event of an accident.
In the end if your happy with ionics thats fine, But I do think they charge more then what their products are worth.
