Sole trader?
« on: October 20, 2004, 05:16:00 pm »
I've looked into getting insurance (around £80 1mill public liability).
Regarding being sole trader, question is

"Do I need to register somewhere as a sole trader"

Concerned that if not registered would that invalidate insurance.
I,ve sent for small business guides from a few banks but havent taken it any further yet.

no you dont need to register as a sole trader,

but you do need to inform the inland revenue about your activities, and then if you are doing this full time, then you need to register with the IR as self employed.

hope that helps
