Freedom trolley tips
« on: August 22, 2007, 10:02:51 am »
hi, i've been using freedom trolley nearly a year(happy)

I do tops wfp, trad bottoms if i can squeegee.
leaded, georgian windows all wfp.

I have escort van go out with 250ltrs water(10x25ltrs barrels)

1)Basically i think I am still too slow, any time saving tips.

Oh i use 20 ft lentgh garden hose wrap round trolley.(eas thinking of mini bore hose.)
2) Is it worth working in pairs i.e someone doing bottoms trad while tops are wfp, or do you get in eachothers way.

Anyone?

wfp all and using the same pole for tops and bottoms will speed things up.
I use a 12 foot extender on most jobs.
I work with microbore at times but the best hose i find is the pole hose.
Get an extra 15 metres on top of what comes with the pole as standard.
It wraps around the handle nicely and you can position the trolley in 1 or 2 places on most average jobs and work from there.
I find i am quicker now using the trolley than using microbore and van mount.
Though i would probably have honed my speed if i'd stayed with van mount only.
Get a submersible pump for your van tank as well.

ps just reread your post. Buy a 250 litre water tank and keep 1 barrel only. Put a submersible pump inside. This will save you alot of time on its own. You can refill while your collecting money or writing out the chit.

Hi lee.
i find if the bottoms are a pain ill wfp them otherwise i trad them, i found it slow using the trolley first , now i wizz round with it, also i purchased a 3ft extender pole to do the downstairs ones with, oh also i put a 16" brush on the long pole so i cover more area with the brush in shorter time,
Mark has come up with a excellent idea with the pole hose, i think i might just go do that

Get rid of the barrels and change over to a 250 or bigger tank, use 100 metres of microbore hose instead of the garden type.

Try to leave the hose reel on the van if you can speed you up a bit.

Wfp all the windows, you can still blade the bottoms dry if you want, but you don't need to.

On 1st cleans have 2 brush heads on hand, use the 1st brush to remove most of the muck them finsh off with the 2nd and clean brush.

Start at the back of the property first and work your way to the front, when you have cleaned the front, go round the back to wipe the botton sills down, you can then check how the windows have dried, if any spots or streaks are showing then either squeegie or re-apply the wfp to them.

If customer offers you a drink, then drink this when you have finshed cleaning the windows not before.

Having 2 men on 1 property does not speed you up at all, unless its a very big building.

As said unless your doing big big work 2 men is not better,if you think that in the end you`ll be doing your work as quick as 2 men off of ladders and you will be you don`t need a helper.Once you have the confidence and know your way around with this new way of working you`ll say to yourself i now don`t need the hassle and the constant let downs from employees,it`s a completley different story when working off ladders as i found that i did need the help most days, but those miserable days are gone and when i work a couple of extra hours these days it`s for me and not so to pay some idiots wages.

Start at the back of the property first and work your way to the front,

This is a very good point when using the trolley or a backpack.
If you run out you haven't got as far to go.

Hi lee

I have the same setup as you, my first week out with wfp - I like the idea of the extra hose - think i might purchase some today as the pole hose just isn't long enough!
