hi all
       ive been ask to do some church windows inside and out , some are stained class and are clear leaded windows  has anyone ever done anything like this if so how

The way that you would normally do them,WFP the outsides and trad the insides.

If you use WFP on the outside, Turn your pressure down and look out for leaks! (You  don't want to christen the vicar with pure water. )  these old windows will leak.

If i do leads and they leak only slightly it dosen`t bother me to much,just do the outsides first and then when you go inside you can deal with the marks that the leaking has made.

Most church windows I've seen are ENORMOUS.  Rather you than me, even if you could find a ladder long enough

the windows have not been cleaned for 10 years at least inside and out  i think i may turn the job down

Out of interest who pays on a church clean? Does it come from a collection?

A customer of mine manufactures stained glass. Not long ago I asked him about church windows and how they get cleaned. His advice was not to bother as there so thin and fragile the chances are you'll do some damage, and that, in the industry is alot of money!!!
Church windows, for that reason alone don't get cleaned apparently. Must say though, if you could design a safe cleaning system for them you might be in the money.

Check your insurance as a lot of churchs are excluded because of stained glass.

GO FOR IT

i have done seven different church(es)? windows and have become excepted as
"as a specialist".

First time was a small chapel attached to a large country house. Used wfp outside and it came up like new.Then spent three long dirty hours mopping up the mess inside.

Yes they do leak, so i now always say inside and out only.
We use a small trough-like set up with with a doubled over rubber edge attached, place against bottom of window inside and this catches around 90% of the runs.

Pre-soak from the top down with your pure water as if you were rinsing off, leave couple of minutes but don't let it dry then wfp with slow water flow and gentle brushing in a horizontal fashion.
The dirt just runs off and excuse the pun but God do they look good

Inspect first for broken or cracked pains agree the damage, be slow and careful and charge what you like, these institutions are not short of cash when it comes to there buildings.

i clean 2 church's

i explain about ho thin the glass is and i can do with with WFP, but not brushing ( though i have brushed with a VERY SOFT floor brush

rinse, brush, rinse again

1 i do inside and out with WFP ( flow turned right down inside )
1 i just do the outsides

both are happy with the result

12 up to now, put in a big price.Watch out for the inside glass thats been repaired/  painted to look like stained glass. Use small brushes and allow time, just cleaned the large areas of painted walls wfp of a large high chapel which had mould growing, v. good results. Aint touching the ceiling though 
I like doing years of grime removed and they come up sparkling if nobody has put windowlene on them and the customers are happy. Tape pvc sheet to the inner cills attatched to a wetvac or just mop fast.
