Adwords, anyone used it?
« on: August 13, 2007, 10:29:08 pm »

Anyone used it? Recommend it until my ad goes into yellow pages?

I have used it... It's worked much better for me than the Yellow Pages to be honest.

You just have to make sure that you target your keywords and make them relevant to the areas you cover.

Will set one up soon. How much interest can be expected. A phone call a week ?

I got more emails than phone calls... When using Adwords I probably get about 5 / 6 emails a week.

I just had a look at your site... It might be a good idea to make your email address more prominent, as I think that people searching on the Internet for a service are more likely to email you an enquiry than pick up the phone and call you.

Noticed one when checking up on key words that have never thought of " house window cleaning" is one of the top ones.

I paid a graphic designer to put that site together and do my business cards and letter heads in the same design. The e-mail is tiny, don't like competitive because it makes you sound like you undercut people and he put ww. on my letter head instead of www.

what a waste of money!

Did you get any money back for the wrong spelling on the letterheads?

Not bad price but you need more detail on that to attract customers, I have my own but that's for recognition and not for advertising.

To see how your site is doing ask for your stats to be mailed to on a regular basis, that way you can see how well it is performing. I have full rights to the stats on the SLWCN site ( courtesy of brother in law ) which is very good in improving your site. It has helped window cleaners in Scotland get extra work.

Your site is not on any of the search engines yet so no one will find you.

you do not seem to have any text on your webpage apart from an email link and links to the person that did it for you, this maybe why search engines have not picked you up as yet. adwords to be honest would be a waste of time, do you have access to the webspace? if you send an email to me design@windowwashers.co.uk give me a few weeks and I will show you something about search engines, just email your contact number and I will give you a call, and no I am not selling you anything just would like to help thats if you want some help for your site.
best wishes

Colley,

Watch what you do with AdWords because its normally pay per click.

Second, you will need to get in touch with your web designer soon

First he needs to dump the flash from your homepage (flash looks the business, but sometimes it can take an eternity to load, even with broadband)

Then you need to make sure he has filled your meta-tags with all the right words, and submitted it.

Meta-Tags:

If I was to submit my site to a search engine (yahoo, google, etc..) they would send a spider to crawl through my website and Meta-Tags is what these spiders are looking for, there are 2 main ones.

1) --- The Description: This is what you see in the top of your browser (Dont clog it up to much).

2) --- Keywords: (You dont see these in a browser) for us it would be something like: window, cleaning, water fed pole, pure, etc...     (separate these words/phrases with a comma then a space --- DO NOT DUPLICATE WORDS AS THE SPIDER WILL SEE THIS SPAMMING AND YOU WILL NOT GET REGISTERED WITH THE SEARCH ENGINE

This may have changed guys, i dont know, the course I done was in 2003.

Chris

P.S. if your looking for a stat counter this is not a bad one www.bravenet.com

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to chase my graphic designer up about this, oh and by the way its my old graphic designer ( you can tell why!) My new one is a little slower but gets the job done well above the required standards.

I really wanted to just get webspace when I first started up but now I'm starting to fell a little let down by my site as now I'm expanding I want everything to look professional. I found that if you are the size of a mouse and you give the shadow of an elephant people still use you a lot more than if you don't try to give an impression.

Over the next month or so I'm going to join the apwc's and put that on my site and I'm going to get a water fed pole and advertise that on my site. I was thinking of maybe putting a photograph on there also. Maybe of me and my pole!

Are you talking about your window cleaning site, or a porn site?

No it'll have to be window cleaning. Don't think I'll earn much of a living off any other sites!  ;D

Have a look on ebay for webplus10 software and do your own site. It's really not very difficult or expensive .
