Hose ramps

I see Hydramaster and Chemspec sell ramps that sit on the pavement and the hose runs under it.

Are these any good ie. strong, easily moved.

Whats the difference apart from the price between the HM and Chemspec ramps?

I always use Hydramaster ramps you must use ramps if you do not went anyone sueing you, wheel chairs run over them with ease! Martin

They are different, in that HMs are double the width and are hinged and fold in half,
They are easily stored, and are strong enough for wheel chairs etc (and of course skateboards)

well worth the money look very profesional saves on insurance claims h/m are hindged as glynn said and you can add extra single ones if required my advice for whats its worth contact hydramaster and order some you wont be sorry

I like the scare mongering insurance claims! = Buy this product from whichever Company!

I don’t know the length of these say 2mts on some jobs you may need 3 of these do you have them NO then you would have to cordon off and direct foot traffic.

Will admit they may have a place, but have yet to find it!

A good sign covers your backside.

Len I am sorry but I do not know where you are at, just please tell us all how to go over hoses with a wheel chair? a A broad is too steep! I also think you need signs as well. They will & have done to me sue for just looking at them. Martin

Sorry you can’t graft where I’m coming from, but I’m glad you brought up wheel chairs my mother in law lives with us and is in a wheel chair do I have to spell it out, electric is a different issue they also use the road.

As long as you follow the HS rules you should not have a problem, buying extra is you’re your decision!

Len, I have to disagree, I have the hydramaster ones, and use them when I have to cross a footpath. They are about 3 or 4 feet in width. The length doesnt matter as long as they are not too steep. I think that if you put them down with or without a sign, you would be covered in case of an accident. They are bright yellow and black stripped, so are very visible.
As an aside I made the holes slightly wider for the hose's to make them easier to place flat.

I think anyone who disses them either cant afford them or has no regard for public safety and the image of their business.

What would be the cost of these ramps, i've tried to find a price elsewhere but had no luck. Does sound like a good idea to have some of these as they could save a lot of agro

 if i remember rightly they cost me £250.00 +vat from hydramaster but give john or craig a ring on 01209 710 335 they will sort you out you won't be sorry

Don’t think I was disses them what I said I have yet to find a place for them!

Regarding safety, I follow the rules if the HS changes I would be the first to buy no expenses spared, like I said scare mongering.

Image is a perception, which I agree with you but still no need to buy.

JUB I have never had any agro.

Sorry my first post should have read the wide was thinking length of hose. :P

Question why are the painted yellows and have black stripes?

Hi Len, I have a pair of these, thay are excellent. The yellow is a safety colour and the black stripes are a gritty non slip surface.

Perhaps I was wrong in stating rules, been in the industry to long, but my interpretation if you initiate a potential hazard like laying vac hoses etc this also includes electric cables, you must place warning sign, think this would also apply when using ramps even with the colours, it needs words like caution trip hazard. May need to update mine to incorporate some other languages need to check this don’t want to be court out!

But you have brought a valid point where can one get them looked at the HSE site cant find anything a this moment.
