Letter to email to busines's
« on: August 06, 2007, 03:22:55 pm »
I dont have time to canvas work at the moment so I was thinkung of emailing a quick simple letter to bed and breakfasts and hotels in my local area.

What do you think of this letter?

Dear sir/madam

We are a local based window cleaning company established in Muir-of-ord.

We have recently invested heavily in the latest pure water fed pole cleaning technology which enables us to clean windows (up to 40ft) to a very high standard from the safety of the ground.

With this new system we are able to comply fully with WAH (working at height) and access windows that were previously inaccessible from ladders.

We have a large number of domestic clients and commercial jobs throughout Ross-shire and are looking to expand into Inverness and surrounding areas.

If you would like a quotation please feel free to call and we can discuss your requirements.

Tel: Matthew  07732 xxxxxx
Email: clearvisionhighland@hotmail.co.uk

Kind regards

Matthew

Just thought,

I mentioned wahd! Is that correct and does it stand for what I typed in my letter? :-[

Hi Matthew,

you need to write WAH in capitols and not lower case as it is initials and abbreviation.

My only comment is blanket email are like junk mail only more frowned upon. People will be reluctant to open your email for fear of viruses and worms.

I know its more costly but perhaps send a letter, at least you have more chance of these being opened?

Thanks trevor.

I think I will send a email and a letter!

Will I use the same wording in the letter?

When I email what will I write in the subject line?

Cheers

Matthew

Yes use the same wording.

Email header could read

Would you like a window cleaning quotation?
Do you need a window cleaner?
Free Window Cleaning Quotation?
Does your window cleaner comply with the WAH Directive?
Window Cleaning - Know your responsibility??

hope that gives you a few ideas?

Dunno about that. I've got same as you £2m...seems more than enough.

On a serious note it might be as well to check.

I used to have £2m pl insurance but a couple of jobs required for me to have £5m at their request
but these were very large jobs including a castle so i would check with the larger customer but normally i would say £2m should be more than enough

Thats what I like about this forum, a post is started about A then after a couple of replies its changed to B then after a few more it has nothing to do with the first question at all   ;D ;D ;D

But back to the question , in the email header I would go for

Do you need a window cleaner?

Then if they do ,they will read the email and get back to you asking you to give them a quote

You are welcome to give me a quote. Once every two months, all outside and
inside 35 bedrooms, and downstairs public areas.

Regards

Robert"

Living by the seaside I have quoted for hotels. I have found that most only want you seasonal . So after the season you are back to looking for more work again. Try to target  the ones that are open all year round

This one is open all year round!

They want a quote for the job to be done every 2 months

I'm chuffed to pieces.

I'm always afraid of making the initial approach so emailing a quick letter was the easiest option.

I know its only a quote I have to do but its better than nothing.

I was sat at home all day as it was pi**ing down so I put my time off to some use.
