Got my new Recoil3 today. Very impressed with performance, first Recoil imported into Ireland too, as far as I know.

Fintan,

Congratulations.

I am told that a solution lid is now available - did you get one?

One tip that may be of use: In case you do not have a pressure gauge, 1/4 turn on the flow control equates to 5psi pressure change.

Enjoy  :D

Paul , I may have confused you, £2,495 is for the base unit only. The booster box and heat exchanger were extra.

Fintan, Thats not a bad price when you compare the Recoil to other top spec porties is it.Who did you buy it from?
While speaking to other manufacturers at carpex they questioned the ability for a portable to create any more than 180-200cfm, am i correct in  thinking the recoil boasts 300cfm or is this with the booster box ???

You're quite correct Paul, 300cfm, thats with the built in booster, with the booster box on line it increases by 100 cfm to a total of 400. On long hose runs it sure must make a difference.

Paul,

The actual airflow will vary dependant on many factors, including the lenght and type of vacuum hose, but measured at the machine port, I recorded 302 cfm with the internal booster in use.

Heat exchanger!

What heat exchanger?

When I went to look at it a few weeks ago Robert did nt say anything about a heat exchanger. I know JB uses an ashbys steamate with it to good effect is this the same as what you have got.

What about some form of silencing.

Michel,

Cross American supply three heater options: an immersion heater, the 'Red Hot Rocket electric heat exchanger and also a propane-fired heat exchanger.

I am not certain that the immersion heater is available in 230v, but the rocket certainly is.

John.

PS. sorry I did not manage day 2 of the show - will have to risk a second attempt at postage  :(

John, Don't worry I know you had a horribile 4am start, I would,nt have made it either if I had started at 4am. On the subject of RH meters I ment to give you a ring anyway as Paul Pearce was Kind enough to send me an e-mail re a new RH meter he has found at very resonable cost and I thought It would be of interest to you

Hi Guys,

Spoke to Robert McCane today,

What I would like to know is ;

1. If the Americans can put in 3 vacs,2 x 3 stage, 1 x 2 stage why ca'nt the Brits?
2. Does the extra vac make much difference?
3. How manoueverable is the Recoill 3?

Cheers guys would appreciate any comments.

Very briefly Doug
I  Ed Valantine has engineered a unique machine, where he comes from makes little difference
2 Yes the extra vac makes a tremendous difference but the machine performs well even with only two vacs running because of its engineering features.
3 I find it very easy to manouvre because of the extra large wheels.
No doubt others will answer in greater detail.

Doug,

The improvement in vac performance of the 3 vac set up allows you the luxury of using a 350 psi pump at runs of 50 - 75 feet. In my view this is what makes the Recoil's performance head and shoulders above other portables.

As Fintan has said the large rear wheels and sensible handle on the front make the machine very manouverable.

Nigel,

I think you mean sensible handle on the REAR. What also contributes to the handling of the machine is the weight distribution. One thing I do intend to change is the front castors, which seem lothe to 'castor' on hard, slightly rough surfaces de to the fact tht the wheels are plastic and tend to skid sideways will replace with rubber.

Regards,

John.
