hi nick,  you need to strip it using an emulsion polish striper, carefree stripper is the one i use, read what it says on the jar,  put that on the floor diluted with hot water, then scrub it with a black pad,  suck all the resedue off the floor with a wet vac, then neutralise with viniger, depending on how thick the polish is you might need more than one scrub off,   after the viniger has dried depending if they want you to re aply polish, put 2-3 coats of carefree eturnum,  might be expensive but well worth it.

good luck nick

kind regards jonny

Johnny i have a bottle of Carefree stripper and its the dogs bollo#ks. I have almost none left, can you tell me who stocks it as i was given this bottle.

Also, there is no mention of vinegar rinsing, can you explain that bit ?

Cheers

be careful you need to identify what the floor covering is it could be marmoleum in which case carefree stripper is too harsh

hi bertie

well the reason for the viniger, is that the stripper is high in alkaline and you need the acid in the viniger to neutrialise it, well that what i was tought and ive been doing it for over ten years now.
use boiling water though its better for the neutralise

carefree striper just google it and its defo out there.

and for the harsh thing its better to do it a little at a time than lots in one time ,  what i mean is dilute a little at a time and do it as many time as u like not neat and mess the floor up in one time.

thanx jonny

Why hot water with stripper.

Premier

How do you identify?

Is marmoleum porous?

marmoleum is a natural product & is porous. high strength alkaline strippers can strip out the natural oils, take off the factory finish, & bleach, & or make marmoleum bleed its colour. vinyl is usually impervious to strong alkaline strippers Identification is simple if you know what to look for. acidic rinse is used after stripping to neutralize the floor so that the polish has a neutral surface to attach too.  leaving alkaline residue on the floor will not allow the polish to cure properly and will eat away at the polish. It can cause streaking and a milky appearance and can also make the floor slippy, boiling water in my experience should not be used & is totally unnecessary. cold or warm water for both stripping & rinse. But as always follow the instructions on the
bottle
