In the same situation as you - found a good web site called "business link", they had good advice, it may help you, put it in on google. From them you can download H & S templates and much more. Hope this helps a bit.

Dependant upon how important the contract is to you, it may be worth getting one done properly (i.e. - pay someone to do it for you).

Once it is done for one customer, you can just adjust it as necessary for others.

I had mine done by Risk Assessment Solutions... they were fairly priced, had the job done in a few days and gave me an electronic version so that I could alter it myself in the future (saved me a fortune).

Their website is http://www.rams.org.uk/

Hope this helps

I went on a training day about risk asesments as it was such a minefield for me!Do you have any health and safety training courses  by you, look in local paper or for evening classes or call hse direct and they are very helpfull.

This is my health and safety policy of intent, your welcome to copy it if it will stop you losing a contract you can get a risk assessment form from the HSE website all the help you need filling it in is also on the site, I suffered alot of head aches over all this h & s stuff and to be honest there is no need it is quite simple.

step one, Identify the hazards (ask the staff who work there and have a good look around)

step two, decide who might be harmed and how

step three, evaluate what you can do to reduce the risk of harm or injury

step four, make a record of your findings,

step five, set a review date.

it does not matter how you lay it out, you could do a seperate page for each risk you find or do it as a chart showing it all on one page.

You can`t really get it wrong because there is not a set way it should be done just swot up on the hse website and you`ll be fine. ;D
