Varistream 2 setup.
« on: July 20, 2007, 09:47:54 pm »
On the varistream do you have to calibrate it every time before you use it or do you just need to do it on the first job of the day,it says that you need to turn it up to max and leave it for 10secs before the pump comes on,but do you need to do this before every job.It also has an inline 10amp fuse but with the eco flo that i have it has a 15amp fuse inline already for that, can it be left in or do you need to replace that particular wire so that theres no fuse only the 10amp one on the varistream. Many thanks in advance.

I have 2 Vari2's & never had to calibrate it just plug n play really, I did however need to adjust the internal dial when I changed over to microbore from 1/2" std hose

You may be lucky with your set up with no need to calibrate the varistream, I was until I changed my pump, then I had to re-calibrated the varistream, once this is done, there is no need to touch the calibration switch again unless you change something on your system.

The only other dial is the flow rate dial, and this you adjust to what ever flow rate you want, mine stays on the same setting all the time, unless I have a first clean, then I just turn it up a little, this same dial is also the on/off switch.

Jeff do you mean that say you have it on 1 o`clock on the dial all you need to do is when you come back to the van you just press the button to turn it off and leave the dial turned round to the desired setting ie 1 o`clock, then when your ready to go again you just push the on button. Also what has to be done with the 15amp fuse which is there for the eco flo,the varistream comes with an in line 10amp.

I do the same as jeff, usually set front dial at 12 or 1 o'clock and just press it in to turn on/off as necessary.
I don't know why you are concerned about the fuse, it's a 10 amp one fitted by the manufacturer so must be fine.

What i meant was that i already have a 15amp fuse in line for the eco flo and it`s in the same wire as the one on the varistream,so on the same wire i have 1x15amp and 1x10amp fuse.

NHW, oh got ya ;D
I'd replace it, but it shouldn't be a problem  as the 10 amp will blow first anyway, still protecting like it should

The 10 amp one should blow first, I have a fuse in front of the varisteam.
I rarely touch my varistream, I have a toggle switch that turns the power on before it reaches the unit. The switch on the varistream is always left on. Dai

You don't need 2 fuses in line on the feed wire, but like you say the 10amp will blow first.
When I have finished for the day I just take my battery of for charging, but during the day and transporting I just disconnect my battery.

No problem with having 2 fuses in-line, but the 15 amp one is useless

Well it's probably easier to remove the 15amp fuse and wire than try and connect the 10amp fuse and wire to it...... mine is straight to a crocodile clip which goes on the battery terminal.
Unless you somehow got a complicated wiring setup?

So i could take the in line 15amp fuse unit out completly and just re wire to the battery just leaving that wire from battery to varistream with the 10amp in line fuse.If it will be ok with the 15amp original in line + the 10amp one with the varisteam i would rather leave it.

Do you have a photo of your wiring setup??
To be honest with you....You should have the eco and the varistream wired as individuale units.
