Help with a commercial floor
« on: July 13, 2007, 08:14:03 am »
Hi all
I would appreciate any advice on the following;
I have to clean and seal a minging tiled floor in a pub. There is 100 sq mtrs. I will scrub with a high alkaline cleaning agent and a rotary machine and then follow up with an acid rinse using a truckmount. The client has asked about sealing the tiles themselves, but as only the grout is porous I will tell him that I will seal the grout only.

I have sealed plenty of natural floors, but never done a grout seal only.
What product would you suggest for this? A dedicated grout sealer or a standard stone floor sealer?
Also what kind of quote would you submit for this job?

Thanks in advance
Cameron

Hi ag
If tiles are not porous, sealer will just flake off even if it looks ok to begin with. Grout is porous, so no problems there.
I reckon best to err on the side of caution anyway. could prove very time consuming to remove flaky sealer from tile surface.

SO how do you identify a porous tile or surface? Put water on it?
