Best Small Van
« on: July 10, 2007, 12:06:44 am »
I'm soon to be getting a new van, just for my use as a sole trader.  Just wondering what you guys think is the best one to go for.

I'm after something about Kangoo size, actually I like the kangoos very much but still a bit of shopping around to do.

I don't use any more than 300 litres a day, so when I get my new system, it will be that size proberly.  I'm pretty sure you can fit a 300 litre system in a kangoo?

Has anyone had a small van about that size that served them well?  Any opinions good or bad appreciated.

well you said "any opinions" but mine is not probably quite what your looking for.

I wanted a combo after seeing the Kangoo, I did a lot of research on the net and found the best vehicle of this type was the Berlingo multispace, and notably the 2.0 Hdi engine.

Well I bought one and I am very happy with it.  Its not a true berlingo I suppose but its more or less the same thing with a few extras.

Carry on with your research but add "Berlingo Van 2.0 Hdi" to your list of ones to investigate.

You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind.

I have a Kangoo with a 400L tank and found it a great van for work.

Thing is now, with the extra gear i've bought over time i'm finding it a bit cramped now.

Get something a bit bigger than you need right now, so when your work expands you can.

I bought a Doblo new in Oct 2006 and I have a 400L tank. I think the dimensions might be a bit bigger than a kangoo? Less cramped?

Payload 736kg

BTW You'll probably find you use more water as you get quicker and do more so bear that in mind.
It's a game of three halves!

I have a combo duel fuel, brilliant van. Get your local vauxhall dealer to put the larger spring on it and your payload goes up to over 700 kg

Go for a Peugeot expert/Fiat Scudo/Citroen Dispatch get the one with 2.0 hdi and 900kg payload, they also have much more room in them than a Kangoo, they DONT rust at all, the equivalent age Kangoos and Partners and Doblos are full of rust, just look at them when your on the road. They also have 3 seats

I have a combo and it is a great van but I am going to be selling it or p/x ing it to get a newer, bigger van next month. If you like the combo and dependant on how new you are looking for mine might fall in your range.

J.Deans

Van is white fully ply lined. 53 plate registered dec 03 with full vauxhall service history. Mileage just turned 50k this week.
MOT dec 07 and tax is end of November 07.
At present it is signwritten (only been done 4 months) I can remove these when the time comes and it has a heavy duty roof rack system from Saunders (galvanised with a rear roller).

Any more info just let me know. I have been offered a decent price px so I would be looking to at least match that.
