Door Knocking
« on: July 08, 2007, 11:14:06 pm »
Hi,

Last week in my local newsagents I advertised for  an evening door knocker for two hours an evening 5 evenings a week @ £7.50 per hour. To date no replies.  Is it because the job sucks  or am I being tight with the readies?

Hi Kevin,

5 days a week is a big committment from a part timer, maybe change your add to "hours to suit"

Good luck,

Cold calling is a big no no for most people.  I think we sometimes underestimate ourselves.  Most people would not be prepared to do what we do.
Why not make it sound more attractive by advertising it as £7.50 + commission or even do what some other advertisers do by offering "UP TO £xx per hour" or even "UP TO £xx per week" if you want to pad it out a bit.  Obviously you don't want it to be misleading and keep it realistic but if you say offered 50% of the value of a clean once you had cleaned twice (on top of the hourly rate), that could give them an incentive to do well.
