pub & employers liability
« on: October 03, 2004, 02:05:14 pm »
I am having difficulty in finding public & employers liability insurance which covers for working with cherry pickers and the like. Have been asked to quote for substantial contract but no point giving quote with current insurance. Currently have pub & employers liability insurance with Zurich covering both w/c and office cleaning.  ???

Tried them for this years cover they are only interested if you have 10 or more employees I only have 3 at present but need the certificate to add to new client pack so I can quote for more work & then take on more staff, proper catch 22.

Try searching for Eagle Star. I'm sure they've been mentioned as a good alternative on these boards.

I'm with Darwin Clayton for self + 2 employees. TEN? I should start looking around for my next renewal then!

Tried them at my last renewal, they weren't interested, said they didn't insure window cleaners any longer.

You didn't say you were a bingo caller or anything similar, did you?

Hi All

I've just renewed our insurance me + 1 employee + cover for bona fide subcontractors, so i would call them again Lee, our insurance is with Royal & Sun Alliance if you have no luck with Darwin try them direct.

Wavie our insurance also used to be with Camberford they put our premium up 2000 percent, so we switched insurance.

Holy c r a p!!!!
6 grand!!!

Insurance company's are really taking the p***. Why on earth don't they all grow brains and REALLY look at the chances chances of an accident occuring.

I am tired and my brain is not working as effectively as it shoud, but I know I have read about studies in probability and I am sure I have read that it depends on interpretation.

I want to waffle on at length, but i have had a long day.

Insurance company's load the dice in their own favour, fairness and objectivety never comes into the equation, only profit does.

Take 3 penalty points on your license, you have done 35 mph in a 30mph limit, you now have three points on your licence, your insurance company will automatically bump up your premium.

you are 50 years old and have never had an accident or points on your license before.
do you really deserve to be penalised financially for what may have been an 'offence' committed in the early hours of the morning, with no traffic to speak of on the road, good visability, good driving conditions, and just an automated camera to record your minor indiscretion?

you may disagree, but I don't think so.

Insurance company's are like banks, THEY screw you, and charge you for the privalege.
