I am very pleased to announce the publication of a brand new magazine:

Professional Window Cleaner Magazine



This Magazine will address the issues that us window cleaners face with a critical eye.  It will report on industry news, legislation affecting window cleaning, developments in our trade and many more issues besides.
We'll be asking all the awkward questions and reporting fully on our results.

The initial publishing stages are being kindly supported by The British Window Cleaning Academy

A special "Preview" edition of the magazine is being produced in time for the WINDEX exhibition, which will contain some summarised articles.

Following Windex, the first full edition will be produced a few weeks later.  There will be 6 issues produced every year.

I am very excited about the release of this magazine, and I very much hope that it is well received by window cleaners.  Having spoken to many colleagues here and elsewhere, I really do think a publication like this is long overdue for our industry.

In part I'm answering criticisms raised on CP's forum that are unfair, untrue and uncalled for.

I'd like to point out that as well as sponsoring the first FREE issue of Professional Window Cleaner Magazine, the BWCA is also a proud sponsor of the forthcoming Windex show that is also FREE. In fact the reason that there are a range of FREE seminars for you to attend is a direct result of BWCA involvement, indeed I will be presenting two of the seminars myself.

The BWCA's sponsorship of an event such as Windex does not inhibit WFP suppliers from participating, indeed all of the main players are exhibiting at the show. I'm also sure that WFP suppliers will also take the opportunity to advertise in PWC magazine, indeed Philip tells me that he already has interest from other WFP suppliers. When you do see a preview copy of PWC you will not find any Ionic adverts, the preview is to promote the magazine not products, Philip intends to devote the majority of the publication to editorial so expect very few adverts compared to story content.

4,000 copies will be distributed in the first issue and just because they're free doesn't mean that they didn't cost anything to produce. The British Window Cleaning Academy Ltd is a training provider and its sponsorship of a promising resource for the window cleaning industry is a non-controversial one. The BWCA takes its responsibilities regarding training seriously and anyone who has attended our courses will testify that we do not use them as a platform to promote products.

If PWC becomes the success that it promises to be then it will be due to Philip Hanson's drive and determination to succeed, I wish him well and am pleased to give him a helping hand right at the beginning when he needs it most.

Though he is the kind of upstanding individual that I would be proud to employ, Philip is not, has never been and is most unlikely to ever become an employee of Ionic Systems Ltd. I have given my time and resources to Philip freely and without condition, to his credit Philip has asked me to account for every penny as he seeks to pay his way in his new venture. I wish him every success, I hope that you will all be supportive and subscribe to the magazine, then in 12 months time judge for yourselves whether or not competition in the magazine sector has produced good results for our industry.

Like Craig, I would encourage everyone to subscribe to it and make their judgement after they've seen it. Members only need to search on Philips previous postings to get an indication of how serious he takes the industry and how much he is prepared to put into it.

I don't believe for a minute that Philip will allow it to be influenced by anyone and I'm sure subscribers will be in no doubt that he genuinely has the industrys best interests at heart.

Just a point of interest here: I just clicked on the Event information you posted for Windex and I checked the link to the website. The homepage has an image of 'what your badge will look like'. Guess what name is on it - yes G Formby!

Obviously more changes are needed to overcome the stereotypical view of window cleaners, including the views of some of those with the most influence.

Even more intersting is the fact that is also the name on the "Carpex" badge!  If I was a carpet cleaner I wouldnt be best pleased.
