How many customers do you have (one man)
« on: July 05, 2007, 02:19:10 am »
I think it would give all us relatively new guys an idea of where we should be, i understand the prices are different,

but i think it should be really interesting to compare how many customers we all have.

Well I've got about 215 and I've been W/Cing since 1991.  Don't use that as a guide though. I need to get more work in.  I used to have over 400 and it kept me fully occupied.  I earn more from the 215 than I did from the 400+.

I have 300 customers, I am still taking on new customers but it is getting difficult to keep up to date with the round. I am at the point now were I need to make a decision as to whether or not to take on staff or to refine the round by weeding out the lower payers and only taking on top quality customers. ???

At the height of my business we had about 1100 customers this was a year ago.
There were 3 of us working full time and one part time Muppet.

Now there is only me and my old man doing about 470 on a 4 weekly turn around.

I have a little over 300  i am in the process of a major cull of the lower end jobs
at the start of the year i had 500 and a guy working for me
but i now am on my own again and i earn more working less
still need to get rid of a lot more then only take on better paying jobs
i am expecting this to take about a year

I'm not questioning how many customers you have..but how do you clean 1200 houses every 4 weeks ?

4 weeks is 20 days ( on a normal 4 day week basis).

1200 / 20 is 60 houses per day.

That is impossible.

I think the words here are 'poetic licence' see lots of it on this site ;D
60 houses per day every day. I think not unless it's the worlds longest terrace all consisting of 1 bed houses.

Cheers Helen nice to see someone else has seen my logic. There's two of us working together, equal partners, and if we really go for it we can do a maximum of 20 houses ( all small ones in a day). We give every single customer a 100% quality service.

20 x 20 would be 400 per month. That's allowing for all small houses, but we do some really big places, worth £3 million +.

We have about 550 customers. This is dealt with by 2 guys in one vehicle and my husband working alone or with them to fill in the gaps as needed. And this is a full 20 days per month work for 2.5 guys.
1600 for 2 guys, impossible

I've been wondering about this. i  can do between eight and twelve a day (i've never done twelve). So my max must be 10*20= 200, but then many of mine are 8wks, so the max would be 400.

If I could do ten £30 jobs a day that would be okay, but I can't. Normaly I do seven or eight a day, and often drive in between.

I have 87 monthlys and about 10 that are now and againers.  I keep thinking I`ll drop the now and againers but they are all well priced so I tend to put up with them.

So just shy of 100 in total.  I have 5 quotes to do this coming week aswell so I might cross the 100 jobs mark soon.  OOOOOh Monkey

Something for us newbies to compare.

I’ve just completed my first two months trading and just looked on George and I have 57 customers. My target was to achieve 100 customers in the first 6 months so well on target. Majority have come from leaflets approx 3500 dropped so far and few referrals.

I’m used to knocking on doors from my old DG Sales days so keep intending to go out and try some canvassing. I believe this is probably the quickest way to generate business.

On top of this I’ve done quite a few Con Roof’s, Soffits, Gutters and upvc cleans which have been good earners.

Overall pretty happy with the way things are turning out.

A big thanks again to everyone for their help and support

Onwards and upwards.  :)

60 per day is virtually imposible for one window cleaner but he said he works with his son, so that maks it 30 each which is very achievable if they are small to medium sized houses. ;)

162 and earning well, nothing to do with the quantity its all about the quality, used to have around 250 and then took a step back and thought why am i working like a busy fool and gave all the awkward and crap jobs away.
Now if i clean more than 10 houses in a day i,m working far to hard  ;)

Exactly!

I did 26 "small ish" houses when I was trad so with the pole I could have pushed 30.

That was a one off though.

Keeping up that pace is very difficult 5 -6 days a week.

BUT it is possible. Always have a open mind! For all you know they might just do oap bungalows all close together??

If that's the case its very achievable!!!

They should manage 100 a day! ;D
