Hi
I import PDA, Mobile phone and one or two models of laptop battery from a manufacturer in China. We also have a contract with a company is the US that specialises in refurbished Network equipment and such like.
We made about 28k last year on a turnover of about 280k, shipping about 18000 packages in the year. However, the level of work required for that is about 10-12 hours a day and about 10 hours of the weekend. The emails are never ending and take about 3 hours a day to deal with.
Basically, the problem with eBay is location misrepresentation. I import, Pay VAT, duty and International airfreight. The guys and gals in China are setting up Uk eBay accounts and pretending they are in Manchester, London and such like. The unsuspecting customer sees a UK seller and thinks it is Kosher until it takes 15 days to arrive. They can do it cheaper because their postage cost for international isn't that much more than mine and they don't have to pay VAT nor duty. The purchaser often is afraid to leave negative feedback because they ill get it back so the next customer is none the wiser.
I plan on dropping the batteries and sticking with the networking gear. That stuff isn't as easy to get hold of and will mean I only need to spend about 3 hours a day for about 50%of the reward. I already start at 6 anyway so I should have most of my days work done by the time I start window cleaning at 9am, after I drop y sonto school.
