Location, location,location.

So often when people are discussing issues on this forum the question of where they are in the country has a significant bearing on the point they are making. Even more so when they are posting from abroad as more people do these days.

Could I suggest that you click on the profile box above and add to the text /picture column of your own personal profile a short indication of where you are? See mine to the left of this post

If you are a bit shy about this just put the County or even NW or SE or whatever.

I think this would be useful. If anyone has a violent reason why they don't want to then don't. I just though it might be useful.

I know where you live now! I'm coming to get you ;D ;D

I agree though. You don't have to say your exact location if you don't want to but just a rough guide would be nice.

I put my location as Inverness in the highlands but thats 18 miles away from where I actually live. If I was to put the name of the village where I stay no one would have a clue where i was!

This idea was posted some while back, and a few did it, but each time someone brings the same topic up, we get a few more do it, I think its a good idea, it also helps when someone closer to you can see the fact they don't live to far from you and can sometimes offer a little more help.

I used to have my email address on here as well, but I have now hidden it, and the only reason for this, is the amount of spam I was getting, if anyone wants my email address, they only have to give me there's and I will send it, so I'm not hiding anything, just stopping the spam.

Some people in the past have asked about going out for a day with either a WFP or Traditional window cleaner. Then when you look in there profile to see where abouts they are, there is not much in it . I think there should be more information needed in everyones profile when they sign up.

My details have been at the bottom of my posts for ages now

Yep I agree with the above posts.

Location, even it is only the county should be compulsory!
West Somerset. On the edge of the Quantocks and looking at The Exmoor National Park.

Lots of window cleaners advertise using Yellow Pages with full contact details , so I dont see why they cant include them on this site

Oh yes, and by the way, those of you who live in good holiday locations can expect a visit from me and my family sometime in August.

No, seriously folks..... Issues like pricing are regional issues. I have read postings about salt spray in the winter and the fact that some towns almost shut down off season without having any idea where they were talking about.

This way at least we have a basic idea.

Thanks to those who have added their locations.

The main things that crop up on here regarding location seem to relate to financial and to water quality.  e.g.  someone might post asking if they need to use an RO or just a DI yet there is no way of knowing where they are from so you can't determine the water quality.

And me, feel a bit guilty, I'm always telling people on "another forum" to fill out their profiles :-[
