My Poor Poor Van.
« on: June 24, 2007, 10:03:47 am »
My old beauty of a van is becoming more and more erm, tired.
She was a rusty old bucket when I bought her but after a year of wfp she is even more holey.  Being an L reg Transit I think it is time to put her out to pasture so over the next month or two I will be looking into the Van buying / leasing options.  Never having to do this before I was hoping some of you knowledgeable guys and gals on her may point me in the right direction.  Basically as funds are tight I was hoping to lease/ buy but was wondering what scope that gave you for adding tanks and things to the van and protectacoting  them etc.

Any advice will be greatfully received.#Ant

Hi TVCS

What size tank are you looking at fitting?  I have a 2001 x-reg Partner van that I'm considering selling, can sell it fitted out or as standard.  73K miles, timing belt etc changed 500 miles ago.  Red.

Let me know if you're interested, I haven't put it up or sale yet but am considering it.

Hi cottonbud

we are based in Ballymena, Northern Ireland - if I'm to sell the van I need 2100quid minimum.

I don't think it's that great.
After looking around it seems about the usual rate.

Renault Trafic, air-con + electrics.
£275 pm x 4 years.
£5000 end payment.

I'll probably chop at 3 years with £7k owing and carry on with a new one.

JM123.
Cheers but was looking for a larger van really, a transit or bigger as I need it for pressure washing and a new venture I`m hoping to move into.

Squeaky, what company did you use or was it a dealership.

I got it from Acorn Hire in Cardiff.

No need for you to go that far though.
From what I've seen since most places are the same price.

Some offer the van for 20 or 30 quid less p/m, then they add compulsory insurances and things, and it ends up the same amount. ::)

I went to Renault/Nissan in Newport and was told it was £209 per month.
+Vat
+Road tax.
+Breakdown cover.
+Payment protector. etc...
An hour of waffling later...
Total cost £280.

Acorn said right from the start on the phone £276.
and that's what I pay...

TA for the replies.
Squeaky, I presume that you have your tank mounted now, have you coated the floor too?

Nah, no point wasting your money when you're only having the van 3 years.

I keep my brush in a tray, and I have no leaks.
Any spillages are mopped up every day anyway.

We've just purchased an 800 kg payload Renault Kangoo from our local main dealer and managed to get a 31% discount.

I'm sure you'll be able to get the same discount on a Trafic or Master.

The dealer is Richard Sanders Ltd, Kettering, Northants (Tel: 01536 512221)

Contact: Pat Stokes
