X Tel Pole
« on: June 20, 2007, 08:04:44 pm »
Does anyone have one of these? Im looking at a 34ft one, it says on Gardiners that its weight is 3.15kg, a Facelift carbon is 3.08kg. It seems a cheap and fairly light pole for £126.00!!

It is a cheap and light pole for the money but nowhere near as stiff as the Facelift.  The 34ft Facelift is only 31' 5".

Most of the work i have is second floor stuff, but i do have third floor and those windows set right back over conservatories, i use my 18ft glass fibre for the hard to reach windows, but i have to get a step ladder out as its not long enough. So my question is, would it be light enough to use all day??

Just looked on Gardiners website and is states the 30ft  extended length is
29ft 6in... thats close enough for me.

Alex......when are you getting the 18ft x-tels in?

Hi John,

As you noticed our website clearly states under each pole the exact extended height of the poles on sale. We believe that our customers should know exactly the height of pole they are buying.

We should be getting the 18ft X-Tel poles in on Monday of next week. I personally feel that this will be a very popular pole, I certainly will be putting one in both of our work vehicles.

Niceandclean,

I would not want to use this pole for all of my work as it is still a lot heavier than the 18ft size. It would actually slow you up during your days work. It is always more time efficient to have a smaller pole that will do 80% your work and save the bigger poles for only when needed. However it certainly is light enough to use on just the odd property if needed.

When I started 6 years ago I used to use a 6 section 30ft Universal pole that weighed about 5 kg for most of my work! When I wasn't using that I would use the 8kg 45ft Universal. Thankfully such times have passed and the choice of poles now is much wider and lighter.

I have a 6 section 30 foot universal pole and I can't wait to upgrade from it, every time I have to use it I feel like I pop one out.  Alex you must have been a He-man using one of those all day.  ;)

Simon.

Alex,
What impresses me about the 18ft is the 4 x 4ft 6in sections. Ideal for any tight access where you wouldn't wanna be swinging a 6 footer about ;)

i've been using a 24ft for about 2 months now, got to say it's the best pole i've had, very durable not to heavy but a bit whippy when fully extended.

It's only whippy if the the pole hasn't been set up right, take the sections out and measure where the tape is, if it's under 250mm it needs adjusting

All you guys who say this pole is great are you talking about the Fibre Glass version or the Carbon Fibre/Glass Fibre Hybrid as there is a big difference in price.
