I thought those of you in the West country get very low readings (around 70 ish)?

Only when you head towards Cornwall. Too much Limestone round here I suspect.

Chris
How do you get the reading down to zero?
Just for the record here's what I do......
Water goes through a sediment filter (750 ml)
Then it goes through the Merlin
Then a 750ml D.I chamber (this I have to change every 600 litres!)
After water is pumped out of the tank it passes through 11 litre DI vessel
After this my reading usually comes out between zero and 2.

pretty much same as you 200gpd RO Man brings it down to between 7&9 then a 750ml DI

Dave
After changing the resin in the 750ml vessel the reading is usually zero or very low but after I have filled my 175litre tank about 3 times the reading goes up to about 15. This is why I have a 11 litre DI vessel inline between the tank and the microbore.
I was wondering if there was a problem with my RO membranes so have ordered new ones. I also plan to change the system to a static one as I have heard that the Merlin in a van bumping up and down can wear out the membranes quickly due to friction.

I have Ro-man 300 gpd with no di and this gets my tds to five. Small di in my van takes it to zero, havn't changed the resin yet since Feb.

my tap water is 248tds and the merlin brings it down to 11-16 any higher and i just change the filters. then i just di it in the van in a 11L vessel which is lasting me 6mths producing 400-500L a day.
membranes on the merlin should last about 3 years (static) dont like the idea of the ro unit in van

East of Lincs Wolds and our water is about 300.
BUT it is ful of limescale
And a RO membrane only lasts 6MONTHS until it clogs up with lime

A customer of mine in a rural farm house has a natural water supply & the reading is 1500ppm on tds meter. yes 1500. un-known to me till this, as the meter only reads 3 digits it displays 150 then a little x10 flashes. Fortunatley for them, they now have a mains supply for drinking water which reads 92ppm.

David, how do you know when to change your membranes rather than the filters?
