Which poles are lighter....

Aluminium or Glass fibre (cant afford the carbon firbe ones yet!)

the new x-tel poles are very light but fairly whippy but they are affordable depends at what height
the 27 x-tel is around the 140 mark excluding vat and postage

it seems to be a very popular pole

Perhaps I should explain. I am thinking of buying a 45ft aluminium pole second hand but am concerned that it could be too heavy. The 30ft glass fibre pole I have is ok but would feel too heavy if it were 45ft. Hence the question.....
Aluminium or Glass firbe? Which is heaviest?

I think the weight difference from what I've felt is minimal.

What's important is that fibreglass doesn't rattle about and make your hands black.

Glass fibre is heaviest telescopic. I would not  think about using one over 30ft and it does wear.
Unger  Alu is the same weight up to about 26ft compared to carbon fibre Ergolite. Trouble is its bendy but I got used to the bend and worked with the bounce effect. Alu poles from Tucker and Omni but as said it oxidises and is cold in the winter. Oh ... the  new Brodex is Alu and well thought out and should give reliable service.
All poles have their pluses and minuses its not an easy decision if you have nothing to compare.

With poles it`s simple but true,you will only get what you pay for.Wait and buy the best,they will last longer in general earn you money quicker and cut down on the aches and pains.

The X-Tels are on the whippy side as Sair said, but they are cheap and they are light. We have found that most customers who want a longer pole (27-34ft) for occasional work would rather have a cheap light pole when given a choice.

Those who use this height of pole a lot generally are prepared to pay more for a slighty stiffer pole (although not much lighter than the Glassfibre X-Tels)

It really does depend on your usage and priorities.
