Sticky Floor!
« on: June 08, 2007, 11:06:18 am »
Hello all
I have just been to look at a floor in a office. The floor was covered in altro but they have ripped this up leaving the whole floor covered in adhesive. Any ideas how I can remove this as I can only find spray cans of adhesive remover and the area concerned is 780sq foot! (a lot of cans!).
Regards
Tim

depends on the type of glue used, most are water soluble but this could get very messy. usually, depending on the ammount of glue left on the floor, and it is a solid floor base ie conrete, floor layers will screed over & fit new, if floor is ply-boarded either boards will be taken up  & reboarded or just board over

hi there

if the floor was concrete screed, it would have been latexed before the altro was laid,

and therefore in our experience the floor will either be latexed again, or in some cases take up the latex, and then re latex, ready for the next flor covering

if over ply, then just take the ply up and over board again 6mm ply fixed at 150mm centres.
