emergency cleaning
« on: June 02, 2007, 01:41:09 pm »
Hi All,

I've been asked to consider taking on emergency cleaning of drug needle, blood, foul etc in stairways of flats around London.
Now I do not belive it is as simple as turing up putting it in a rubbish sack and leaving, so my question is
1.  is there anybody out there who I can talk to who does that kind of work?
2.  what goverment deptment would I need to speak to ?

I've got the money/drive and the staff to set this up but it's a far cry from cleaning empty houses so I would be so greatfull for any help

Many thanks

Nick

Hi ya mate
welcome 2 the world of xtreme cleaning, we've been carrying this out for 17 years now and it's not sommit 2 take lightly for ur self or ur staff.

their's also a hugh health and safety issue, first and foremost if carried out sensibly it's worth doing, i would certainly suggest that u cover ur self and staff by having them trained, basic training can b carried out via Bicsc for the sum of about £400 i believe upto 4 cleaners,  this will certificate u for Control of body fluid contamination and sharps very basic but a step in the right direction, other than that contact the flood school who r covering this to i believe a higher degree and price of course  ;D

First step get ur cleaners jabs sorted talk 2 ur local GP
Secondly sharps can not go into a bag of any discreption they must b contained in a sharp box and must never b disposed at a waste disposal site they have to b disposed of for incineration

if u want to pm me i will give u a full run down of health and safety covering

clothing
equipment
disposing
legal issues
clearing and cleaning methods
chemicals etc

we carry this work out for environmental, public health, housing ass, council etc
we also do drug awareness/health and safety speeches for housing officers etc concerning this type of work, would b quite happy to come and talk to ur self and ur staff for the tidy sum of £800  ;) :o
Thanks
Richie
