cleaned a school today. Quite new to WFP. the UPVC windows came up fine but the metal framed ones came up really bad!! dried with a creamy smear.

I went over again, rinsing but not touching the tops of the frames, hoping this does the trick

Is there a method of cleaning these frames ??

Also, had problems with old wooden framed windows too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

Oxidized frames i used to hate them but there not to bad if you know how to do them.

What i do if they are going milky is give the whole lot a good scrub especially the top frame and rinse really well again paying more attention to the top frame.

Go round them all like that and then go back to the beginning and do the glass only do not touch the frames and again rinse really well.

The next time you do them it will be a piece of cake and should not be milky if they are it will only be a slight bit and just rinse well and they come good.

was told to stay away from these types of windows but do as paul says and there be no probs. also the frames look so much better after and the customer is more greatful of this than spotless glass on the first couple of times again explain to customer because i find that its the key to wfp.

i do alot of de-oxidixing of wooden frames as well started off doing one house and the phone was going like mad wife was very busy. now i have all 8 houses in a row. for the first clean i charged £32 (8 windows) but the customers didnt mind as they recon i saved them over £200 by not having them painted that year, then charged £10 on future cleans. Took a hour per house first clean but only take now 1 1/2 hours to do the lot and they come up great every time now.

two even want their conservatoy done now because they are so pleased

Paul, many thanks. I was under the impression on the metal frames not to touch the frames if you can help it, but water always ends up spashing on there a bit.

Yes, you have to attack the frames and get the milking paintwork washed off. I've tried not touching the frame and it doesn't work. Mind you it takes ages and you won't get it perfect first time. Thats why its best to show whats happening to the house holder and explain how the process will take time. That way you get them on your side.
